  “Don't normally leave reviews but this was so good. Visited for an evening event our first time here as a group of 6. We were very impressed. Lots of veggie options on the menu. The food was delicious, some of the nicest food I have eaten out. I had the tapas and everything was fresh and tasty also massive portions. We had a mix of meals and it all arrived together. Staff were working so hard in the heatwave and continued smiling. Really delicious food a real hidden gem, look forward to returning.”

  “First time coming to Ugly Mug, had no real expectations, came for a bit of a working lunch with the wife and I was blown away. I had the flat iron with one of the top 3 peppercorn sauces I've ever had in my life (and I eat a lot of steak!) Steak was cooked perfectly, soft enough that cutting it with a normal butter knife rather than a steak knife was no issue. Crispy chips with a decent amount of chip seasoning but not so much it overpowered them. Incredibly reasonable in terms of pricing too. I've raved about the food and that sauce for the last couple of days so felt compelled to leave a review. The only TINY thing I'd say is the deep 'tray' the steak came in wasn't exactly steak cutting friendly and I'm pretty sure I consumed some of the branded paper as the steak juices with me cutting the steak tore it apart quite a bit. Didn't negatively affect the experience though. We will 100% be back, this independent has got it spot on!”

  “Food was incredible, staff were lovely, and great prices. Had the maple core pancake stack with bacon - unbelievable. Partner had Gluten Free toast with eggs and sides, also really nicely done and decent bread! Coffees also top notch ☕️”

  “Had a really nice visit here. I got an iced latte and an iced matcha, both were really good and tasted fresh. The place has a nice vibe, and the service was quick and friendly. Only small thing is the atmosphere could be a bit better, but overall still a great spot. Would definitely come back.”

  “I had a really wonderful visit to this café. Everything was generally at a high level. The food was incredibly tasty and looked very beautiful. The service was friendly and attentive. The place was also very clean and well maintained, which I especially appreciated. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would be happy to come back again.”

  “Came here for breakfast on Mother’s Day, usually you order at the counter but instead they were running table service for the special occasion! The staff were lovely and the decor itself is stunning. The food came out quickly and was delicious! Will definitely be returning to try more!”

  “My favorite place in Wellingborough (as well as Castello Lounge) for a coffee and brunch!! Food is always top notch and drinks made to perfection. The seating in here is much more comfortable now which I highly rate. My only slight criticism is that I strongly feel that table service would be more beneficial as it’s not great having to take a seat (particularly if upstairs) and then having to come back down to order again. Just doesn’t seem the greatest of ideas to me. Hopefully they can maybe change this one day. Otherwise, it is an amazing place with a fabulous menu!”

  “Visited Ugly Mug in Wellingborough and had a very pleasant experience. The cafe has a calm and relaxed atmosphere with tasteful decor, making it a nice place to sit and unwind. We tried the coffee, fries and a margarita pizza, and everything was nicely done. The coffee was enjoyable, the fries were well cooked, and the pizza was fresh and satisfying without trying too hard. The space feels quiet and comfortable, which adds to the overall appeal. Off street parking is available nearby, which makes visiting easy and convenient. Overall, a well put together place with good food and a welcoming feel. A solid spot worth visiting if you are in the area.”

  “Stopped by Ugly Mug for lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch. I had the beef tacos, and they were a burst of flavor in each bite. My wife went for the sourdough baguette with chicken, which she couldn't stop raving about. We also shared a side of garlic and Marmite fries that were absolutely addictive. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. Well done, Ugly Mug, you've gained some new regulars!”
