About Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a Chinese takeaway at 2 Heworth Rd in Washington. The Kubo sauce dishes, including char siu and chef's special, are served with chips and egg fried rice, so the sauce, the chips and the rice come together in one order. Szechwan dishes sit alongside them on the menu. The curry side offers chicken curry, with chips or mushrooms in curry or gravy as sides, and the noodle dishes include chow mein with a crispy noodle option. A carton of curry sauce can be ordered as an extra.

Customer Review Summary
Kubo sauce dishes draw the most praise at this takeaway, with reviewers ordering char sui or the chef's special in it alongside chips and egg fried rice, and describing the Kubo and Szechwan dishes as flavoursome and the right side of spicy. Close behind, diners mention shredded chicken in chilli and salt, salt and pepper chicken, and large spring rolls, with chips or mushrooms in curry or gravy as a favoured side. Several describe food cooked to perfection, big portions, and a friendly delivery driver. Longtime customers are the source of the complaints, though. Two reviewers say the chicken and beef in their curries were rubbery and slimy, and one found the satay sauce rank. Another says the curry has been too hot for months and has lost its authentic flavour. A chow mein arrived with no sauce, and its crispy noodles were plain deep fried egg noodles. One reviewer also found the fried rice dry and tasteless, with a 10p charge for a bag they were never asked about.

“Take away fried rice and chips £6.10, charged 10p for bag without asking if I wanted one. Used to be nice this place. Food was dry and tasteless and portions are smaller than other local Chinese takeaway.”

“I ordered chicken & mushroom curry with fried rice and chips. The chicken was gross, i don't think it was chicken at all, probably cat or dog. All these Chinese places seem to have the same supplier for their meat as concord Chinese is the same. The so-called chicken is different when you order a chicken chowmein. I certainly won't be going to this place again.”

“1st pic is Shredded chicken in chilli and salt with chips and egg fried rice with a carton of curry sauce. 2nd and 3rd pic is char sui in ku bo sauce, chips and egg fried rice. 4th pic is chefs special in ku bo sauce, chips and egg fried rice. I can honestly say hands down, best Chinese takeaway I've been too. Lovely, piping, tasty food. Would recommend to everyone.”

“I love this place but the past few months, the curry has been too hot. I keep trying in case it was a different chef that night, but must have changed recipe. Food cooked to perfection, shame about how hot the curry is. Lost its authentic Chinese curry flavour”
