Customer Review Summary
Staff draw the most praise, described as friendly, attentive and polite, with one reviewer recalling a waiter who hung a coat on a hanger near the door and later helped put a jacket back on. Close behind is the food, where diners name chicken tikka dishes, king prawn puri, chicken chat puri, lamb curry, garlic naan and pilau rice, and several call the cooking fresh and full of flavour. One reviewer asked for a dish that was not too spicy but still had a little kick and said it arrived exactly that way. A couple of reviewers note the restaurant gets busy and suggest booking ahead. Complaints are few but specific. One diner felt pressured when waiters wanted to bring the next course before the current one was finished, and a longtime customer was disappointed that the garlic chicken starter came out bland and dry, oven cooked rather than the fried chicken pictured in the online menu. One bill arrived with a shot of Baileys and a Werther's Original for each diner.

“I have been coming nti the Raj since they opened in the old restaurant, I use to recommend it to all my friends as the best Indian around. a big fan off anar and the staf, I helped anar do some bar/cocktail training for the staff ... I was extremely disappointed to see false advertisment of there garlic chicken starter in the online. On the website it shows some lovely garlic fried chicken but in reality it was a bland & dry oven cooked chicken with some bland garlic seasoning.. pick 1 the picture on the online menus.. pic 2 is what i actually got”

“Had a fabulous night on Saturday celebrating my friend’s birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff are truly amazing. The restaurant was very full and this added to the atmosphere being brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are always very attentive. If you haven’t been to the Raj then book a table sometime, you will not be disappointed.”

“The Raj in Culcheth is always fantastic. Every time I visit, the staff are genuinely warm, welcoming, and always go out of their way to look after me. The service is consistently friendly, and they make you feel like a valued regular from the moment you walk in. The food is always delicious, fresh, and full of flavour — you can tell they take pride in what they do. Whether it’s a quiet meal or a takeaway, they never disappoint. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Highly recommended!”
