Customer Review Summary
The criticism centres on flavour and quality. Several describe tasteless curry, watery or gravy-like sauces, bland chowmein and noodles like straw, with hardly any meat or vegetables. Others report tough satay chicken, soggy salt and pepper wings, and chicken fried rice that one couple binned, believing it was reheated. One reviewer reports violent diarrhoea the morning after their order. Two say it has declined from how it used to be, and one says a promised call back about poor meat never came.

“Had our first chinese takeaway since moving to the area. Ordered special in black bean sauce, special curry, fried rice, chips and ribs in sauce. Good sized portions, wife thought black bean sauce was a bit sweet, but my curry was tasteless, everything tasted bland and flavourless, I don't think any curry powder or sauce or whatever they 'don't ' use had not been added. Very disappointed after looking so forward to a takeaway for the first time. Sorry to say we won't be ordering from here again.”

“Chinese take away. We had salt and pepper wings, satay chicken and special chowmein. Wings had chilies and were both greasy and soggy in places. The satay chicken was tough and a very thin and not peanutty taste. The chowmein was bland. In fact it tasted as if all that was in the sauce was noodle water. There was hardly any meat or vegetables. The meat that was there was really nicely cooked. Sadly we will not be using this takeaway again because it was not to our taste.”

“Salt and pepper chicken might aswell of been mcdonalds chicken nuggets very little salt anf pepper flavouring etc. curry sauce was more like chicken gravy, and the prawn toast looked as if it had been previously fried in old oil and then re heated in the microwave with a rubbery fishy taste and smell. Definitely not fresh! Lastly the Prawn cracker tasted rank with the old oil they were cooked in. Salt and pepper x1 Egg fried rice x1 Prawn toast x1 Chicken and sweetcorn soup x1 Prawn cracker x1 Total £33.80 And too top it off I have violent diarrhoea this morning. Definitely not worth the money. Probably the worst chinese in Wakefield Will never be returning.”

“Gave them a second chance, visiting the area and last year the meat content in two dishes was very poor all grissle.Phoned and told them and they said they would ring me back, they didn't.Tried again today and two meals were very bland, even the curry was watery.Comb starter was poor except for the Prawn toast which was great. Will not return.A shame really it used to be good a few years back.”

“Great local takeaway with friendly staff, very good food at a reasonable price. We are happy every time we order from Lee Cottage. The set menu meals are really good value for money, excellent prawn toast, nice Chinese chips and the fried rice is perfect.. the Beef in black bean sauce is a favourite.”
