About The Victorian Slipway
The Victorian Slipway is a seafront pub on Marine Parade in Tywyn, with views of the sea. The building has a bar downstairs and a restaurant and second bar upstairs. Food comes from a menu that includes a Welsh burger, and Sunday lunch is a beef roast served with cauliflower cheese included. Cask ales are on tap, with Wye Valley Brewery beers on the list, including Pyoneer and HPA. Dogs are welcome, which is worth knowing if you are travelling with a pet.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the Sunday roast, with the beef Sunday dinner singled out as one of the best they have had, described as pink, succulent and full of flavour. Generous portions of meat and veg, with cauliflower cheese included, come up alongside comments on good value, and one group of four mentions lunches and drinks that came in cheaply. The Welsh burger and a surf and turf also earn praise, and one regular calls the burger one of the best from a pub. Close behind is the cask ale, with Wye Valley's Pyoneer and a well kept HPA named, and one reviewer mentions frothy ales. Staff are repeatedly called welcoming, friendly and helpful. Others mention the sea views, the beer garden, a new alcove and free WiFi with the password on the wall. The only wish raised is for a gherkin option on the burger. One diner returned months after a first visit and brought parents and in-laws, who all agreed it was a wonderful lunch.

“Great spot to get some food or a quick pint. Every member of staff I've spoke to have been nothing but kind and welcoming. Food is amazing quality for price, I normally just get the burger when coming here for food because it's one of the best burgers you can get from a pub I've seen ( I only want an option to add a gerkin ) but the other food I've see looks great too. Decent drinks selection on tap. Great views of the sea just over the sea front. I would recommend going to anyone who is stoping by tywyn.”

“Wow, don't judge a book by it's cover, less than impressive from the outside, inside its lovely, bar and patio downstairs, resturant, bar and veranda upstairs, fully accessable, disabeled lift, disabeled toilet, food was great, all four plates, staff were lovely, £43 for 4 lunches and 4 drinks, cant fault it,”

“Great seafront pub serving really good food and drink. Three different cask ales from Wye Valley Brewery and I can personally recommend the Pyoneer, a premium bitter. My eldest daughter and I had the Welsh burger which was excellent with very generous portions. My wife had the surf & turf which she said was lovely. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant making it a very enjoyable experience. Will definitely return.”

“I am starting to really enjoy the Slipway as an established pub rather than just a summer sundeck. I particularly want to mention they keep some beautifully frothy ales that makes it somewhere that I seek out rather than just being a port in a storm. The staff are very polite and engaging without overdoing it. The new alcove is a joy. Free WiFi has a good signal and the password is on the wall.”

“We came to the Victorian slipway in September 2025 & left a review saying it was one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had. Returned on father's Day 2026 with my fussy parents, trepidation & in-laws. All agreed it was a wonderful lunch. Huge sigh of relief. Clearly I'd recommend.”
