About Long Street Fisheries
Long Street Fisheries is a fish and chips takeaway in Thirsk, at 62A Long St and just off the A19. The menu centres on haddock and chips, and a Yorkshire fishcake is served alongside the fish and chips for anyone who wants a regional option added to the order. Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips is what most reviewers praise, with haddock and chips singled out and the batter described as lovely and crisp, just as it used to be. Yorkshire fishcakes come close behind, called tasty and lovely by several, and one regular calls the fish and chips gorgeous. Reviewers repeatedly describe the staff as polite and friendly, and several call the portions and pricing reasonable or good value. The one detailed complaint comes from a reviewer who saw overcooked food in the display cabinet and received items that looked re-fried to reheat. The chips were oily, though the best part of that meal. Their son refused to eat, and they felt food should be cooked to order since the shop was quiet. Even this reviewer found the staff polite and welcoming. Another reviewer's favorite touch was the food arriving wrapped in paper, alongside a fishcake and chips they called the best in years.

“Really disappointed 😞 but starving.. I should have left when I seen the overcooked food in the display cabinet. I ask for something they'd have to cook from fresh for my ordered and a little concerned how they added two overcooked items that weren't displayed in the cabinets, no time for frying as my food was prepared in minutes. Everything but the chips came overcooked and looked like they been pre fried again to heat up. They were really overcooked and not edible. The chips were okay but oily and they were they best of the actual meal, my son refused to eat and after 1 bite I had to put in the bin, not nice.. People were polite there and welcoming but wouldn't waste my money there again. If they cooked food per order it would be ok.. it was quiet in there and not busy at all so no need to pre fry food. People pay to wait for quality. Let them wait.. this is the worst chips shop I've ever had. Other than the food.. Nice staff and very clean.”
