About The Water Rat Inn

“Very poorly managed, with possibly the worst food we’ve had ever, but they don’t care when we complained told to ‘just go.’ Shame as they have the most perfect location and setting, we have been trying places out to find the perfect place for our very special event to book, we thought we had found the one - until we sampled the food, just wow - this was worse than bog standard pub food. Loaded chilli fries is just a tin of stagg chilli, seafood linguine completely cold with watery slop from the frozen fish mix, rump steak of the worst quality meat couldn’t cut through with the steak knife! with frozen chunky chips that were so dry, mushrooms that have been standing in water for god knows how long, peppercorn sauce was very questionable - really poor, for basics that are very easy to get right. Go for a drink, enjoy the location, go elsewhere for food, the manageress/owner really doesn’t care, they have enough tourists and others who know no better supplying her income - the hunt for the perfect venue continues but will never return here.”

“Live in Telford and have been a few pubs in the area but first time here. Lovely staff, super dog friendly. Great value on the food, had a main and desert for £15. Nice garden to sit with dogs by the river. Nice walk to Ironbridge from here which is about 15 mins. We will be back, recommended.”

“Stayed nearby and went for an evening meal. Very good menu, plenty of variety, well presented and sensibly priced. Not haut cuisine, but good honest pub food. Friendly, cheerful staff. Excellent value.”

“Staff were very friendly. Unfortunately after a busy Easter weekend (we were there Tuesday evening) several dishes unavailable. My daughter's chicken tikka was delicious and my other daughter enjoyed her pizza. My husband and I had chicken schnitzel: no way was it schnitzel (Schnitzel is a thin, tenderized cutlet of meat—typically veal, pork, or chicken—that is breaded and pan-fried until golden and crispy.) It was a breast, sort of breadcrumbed and soooo dry & the sauce was poor but I dipped mine in tikka sauce!”

“My partner and I stayed here for a night last Saturday, bed and breakfast deal.. It's a really nice pub, modern, clean and comfortable, nice beer garden, right on the river.. our room was beautiful..tv, shower, hairdryer, tea and coffee and there's even a little fridge in the hallway with bottled water.. we slept like babies and had a really good stay. The full English breakfast was perfect and fresh, and our waitress was lovely..”
