Quick info
About hakka2
On Regent St in Swindon, hakka2 is an Asian fusion restaurant at number 40-42, where a Malaysian chef and staff cook both Sichuan and Malaysian dishes. The Chicken and Pig Stomach soup is a large sharing dish, made for a table to split rather than for one person. The menu pairs the Sichuan-style Chinese cooking with the Malaysian plates, and a buffet option is available for diners who prefer a more Western palate. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for authentic Sichuan cooking, with one diner whose wife is Chinese vouching for it and another pleased to find real chilli heat. Close behind are the sticky BBQ spare ribs, the chilli soft crab, crunchy outside and juicy inside, and the Lamb Rendang, tender and full of curry flavour. The golden egg yolk prawn, hot and sour soup and Black Bean House Special are also singled out, and Malaysian dishes get a nod since the chef and staff are from Malaysia. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, and the dining room as quiet, cozy and romantic. The one caveat is portion size: a family anniversary table ordered more than they could finish, and a soup said to serve two was big enough for four to six. One visitor from London liked the food enough to order it twice more at their hotel.

“Very nice restaurant. Nice ambiance. Staff are highly trained as our dinner plates were warm. Dishes were pretty good. The best restaurant in the area happens to be just in front of our accommodation”

“A wonderful family celebration We visited Hakka2 to celebrate our wedding anniversary with the whole family, and we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. It was quiet enough to have a proper conversation, which made the evening especially enjoyable. Everything was very clean, the food was delicious, and the service was absolutely excellent — friendly, attentive and professional. Every dish we tried was full of flavour and beautifully prepared. Everything was simply delicious and exceeded our expectations. The only “downside” is that the portions are huge! 😂 We definitely ordered more food than we could possibly finish, but at least we know we got our money’s worth. Overall, a fantastic place for a special family occasion. We were very happy we chose Hakka2 and would definitely come back. Highly recommended!”

“The best, most attentive customer service! The hot and sour soup was exceptional, the egg rolls were exceptional, and anything and everything on the menu is exceptional! We'll be back for our third run tomorrow. Too satisfying to try going anywhere else!”
