Quick info
About Caffini (Havelock Street)
Caffini is a pizza restaurant and café at 29 Havelock St in Swindon, blending Brazilian, Italian and English cooking on a single menu. Brazilian cheese bread and esfira come from the Brazilian side, while pizza covers the Italian side. Breakfast leans English, and the breakfast menu runs until 2pm, with avocado toast among the choices. The coffee list includes signature creations made in-house, so the café works as a stop for a drink as well as a meal. Food is made to order, and a wait for it is common. The in-store menu differs from the one online, so the printed menu in the room is the one to go by. Beer and wine are also served for guests who want to stay longer.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention avocado toast, pizza, breakfast menu and Brazilian cheese bread.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the food, with avocado toast named by both happy and lukewarm diners, and pizza called fresh by those who came specifically for it. Close behind are the Brazilian cheese bread, the Esfira, chicken with Catupiry and moist cake. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, and one reviewer mentions a warm welcome for their dog. The main complaint is slowness and reliability. Two reviewers say food took a very long time, and one says this happens even when the cafe is nearly empty, with servers on their phones or chatting. Another says the kitchen was closed around midday on several visits. Several find the online menu differs from what is in store, with items missing. Two say the website shows a halal sign but they were told none of the meat was halal, and one reports a chewy steak and nearly cold food. Even so, one pair shared a chicken and avocado panini with parmesan fries because the portion was great.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Amazing Café in Swindon, Highly Recommended! Caffini in Swindon is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for great food, quality coffee and a varied menu. What makes it stand out is the choice available, from breakfast and brunch favourites to freshly prepared sandwiches, delicious pizzas and tempting desserts. The menu has some lovely options, including Brazilian cheese bread, avocado toast, English breakfast and freshly made coffee, making it a great choice for breakfast, brunch or a relaxed lunch. There is also a nice mix of Brazilian, Italian and classic café-style dishes, so there is something to suit different tastes. Whether you’re stopping by for a morning coffee, meeting friends for brunch or looking for a satisfying meal, Caffini offers plenty of choice. Its central location on Havelock Street makes it a convenient place to visit while in Swindon town centre. Overall, Caffini is well worth checking out if you appreciate a café with a varied menu and something a little different from the usual options. Definitely one to consider for your next coffee or brunch stop in Swindon! ☕🍕”

“I’ve been to this place a few times now, and unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. The service is extremely slow — whether the place is busy or I’m literally the only customer there, it can take 40 minutes or more just to get something. Another major issue is the kitchen. They open at 10am, yet I’ve turned up around midday on multiple occasions only to be told that the kitchen is closed. It’s a coffee shop, so having the kitchen unavailable in the middle of the day makes absolutely no sense. The menu is another problem. You’ll look through the options, find something you actually want, and then be told they don’t have it. This happens so often that you basically have to expect half the menu to be unavailable. And for a place that presents itself as a Brazilian coffee shop, there really aren’t that many Brazilian options. Most of the menu seems to be English breakfast-type food, which honestly I could get anywhere. I wouldn’t specifically go to a Brazilian coffee shop just to have an English breakfast. What makes the slow service even more frustrating is the attitude of some of the staff. There often seems to be very little urgency or care about customers waiting. I’ve seen servers on their phones in front of customers, chatting among themselves, or doing pretty much anything other than actually serving people, even when someone is clearly waiting to be helped. And I’m saying this as someone who works in hospitality myself — I completely understand that things get busy, kitchens get backed up and mistakes happen. That’s not the issue. The issue is the lack of urgency, communication and customer service, even when the place isn’t busy. I really wanted to like this place, especially because I’d love to see more Brazilian cafés doing well, but unfortunately the service and consistency need a serious improvement.”
