About Bite East
Bite East is an Asian fusion restaurant in Stirling, at 52 Port St, with a Chinese and Japanese menu that runs from British-style Chinese dishes and Sichuan cooking to dim sum and sushi rolls, so a group can order across both cuisines at one table. Dim sum comes fried and steamed, and the sushi list includes the rainbow roll. Noodle dishes such as udon sit alongside the Chinese plates. Food is prepared to order, so service can take a while. Pints of Asahi are on offer for those who want a beer with the meal. The kitchen also provides vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often point to the breadth of the menu, which runs from familiar British-style Chinese to harder-to-find dishes such as pork intestines in chilli, a staff recommendation one reviewer calls the best dish. Close behind are fried and steamed dim sum, udon and seafood fried noodles, spicy Sichuan cooking, and king prawn fried rice with a huge portion. Sushi earns its own praise, with the salmon avocado roll and rainbow roll singled out for a decent amount of fish. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and several describe the staff as friendly. The complaints are specific. One takeaway order arrived cold with the sweet and sour sauce missing and only around five chewy wontons. A longtime customer describes a dish first served to another table coming back lukewarm and wiped around the edges, then being charged for the more expensive dish left uneaten. Another reviewer notes food is prepared on order, so service may take a while. One group had leftovers happily boxed up by staff.

“I have eaten in Bite East a number of times and always enjoyed it, but unfortunately my experience tonight was disappointing. I ordered two dishes and only one arrived. The second dish was given to another table. The customer at that table must have notified the waiter, because it was brought over to me about some minutes later. The waiter asked if it was fine for me (normally I’m really not fussy), but it looked like it had already been touched. I kindly asked for a fresh one and he even offered before I had to ask, but five minutes later the same plate was returned — lukewarm and wiped around the edges. This felt unhygienic, not acceptable, and quite disrespectful. I think this was not the waiters fault, he seemed genuinely embarrassed. I decided to ask for the bill and leave. I noticed I wasn’t charged for the dish that was mishandled, but I was charged for the more expensive dish that I didn’t eat. I’m not sure if this was intentional or a mistake, but I just paid it to leave without making a fuss. It’s a shame, because I’ve always liked this place, but after tonight I won’t go back.”

“Absolutely awful experience. Our order arrived cold, tasteless, and was really disappointing. The sweet and sour sauce was missing, which meant part of the meal couldn't even be enjoyed. The wontons were completely inedible. We only received around five of them, and the filling was incredibly chewy and didn't even taste like chicken. We couldn't eat them at all. Overall, the food was poor quality, cold on arrival, and a complete waste of money. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering from here again.”

“Whopping menu to choose from (u won’t go home hungry!) we had chinese but it caters to multiple cuisines and very generous portions! Stupidly forgot to take pics 🤦🏻♂️ but the menu’s have a lot of the dishes on them which is quite a rarity from my own experience but they cater to ur own specification. Brilliant service as usual. (As we’ve come to expect from these types of restaurants 🥰💙) staff are super friendly and interactive, genuinely care for ur experience rather than just for ur £££. 💯💯💯 go to this place if u like Asian food, lots of different options not just Chinese, it rocks! 👌🏻”

“Went in today and it was completely empty and I don't know why because this place was amazing. Along with the usual British style chinese food the had a large range of harder to find dishes of which I ordered a bunch! I live in a part of Scotland where there's not too many options food from other cultures so when I travel I gorge myself; I senced no judgement from the staff for ordering enough food for 2 people. The best dish was the pork intestines in chilli that the member of staff recommended to me. Highly recommend coming here.”
