Customer Review Summary

Diners most often single out the lamb, with reviewers calling the Welsh lamb tender and flavourful and one describing it as cooked to perfection. Close behind are the duck fat roast potatoes, the blade of beef, the gammon and the Greek meze meal, with a full vegan menu and the grill night sharing platter also getting praise. Several mention live entertainment, including tribute acts and a singer, alongside cocktails, wine and the fire. Service is described as friendly and accommodating, and one reviewer held a wedding reception here with a bespoke menu. A few describe overnight stays in the chalets as fresh and modern. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who waited a long time for food and found the mixed grill portion small, with the half rack of ribs on the menu not reflected on the plate. Another had a flat-looking Guinness that staff agreed was off, then was offered a Peroni. One reviewer who arrived without a reservation was seated immediately.

“Just gone in there ordered a Guinness the blonde fella who argues with the blonde girl all the time behind the bar poured me what looked like a flat Pepsi . I looked at him and said come on you know that’s off , his grind tasted it and said it was off . The annoying thing is he tried to tell me it was a new barrel 🙄🙈and would I like a peroni 🙄 It looks like a lovely place but please sort out your staff”

“The best of the best. We recently held our wedding reception at the the Red Lion and we cannot thank them enough. They went above and beyond in every single possible way, with guests commenting on how impeccable the service was and how incredible the food was. Creating our own bespoke menu with us, nothing was too much trouble, they decorated for us to our vision and made our night truly unforgettable. We cannot thank all of the staff enough, especially Alex and Millie, even creating us our favourite wedding highlights reel so far off their own back!! As regular customers we knew they would be good and the food exceptional, but we didn’t expect them to blow even their high standards out of the water. Thank you, and if anyone is looking for an event venue in the area look no further than the team at Red Lion.”

“Our first visit to this wonderful pub and what a fabulous discovery. We arrived too late for Sunday lunch, but the menu on offer was very good. We tried the Blade of beef, chicken burger and gammon. Delicious and perfectly presented, great food. Not your run of the mill, mass produced menu choices, instead proper restaurant food. The service was spot on, attentive and friendly. We will be back to try another menu and take in the entertainment on offer Rose, Steve, Saffy and Jamie”

“Having been here before I knew it was a nice pub. But this weekend was even better! We had an overnight stay in one of the chalets which i would 100% recommend. They are clean, fresh, modern and have everything you need! We had a 3 course meal which we couldn't fault, was so filling i couldn't quite manage it all! A great evening with live entertainment, cocktails, wine, beer and lots of laughs. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and staff 😊 Thankyou 😁”

“Dropped in without a table reservation and immediately allocated a table. Great staff. We had the Greek Meze meal, which was excellent. Very friendly gastropub.”
