Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, helpful staff, who are described as going out of their way, whether handling a baby shower for 14 or a small wedding reception where decorations were stored and packed away afterward. The roast beef and gammon get praise for good cuts and plenty of meat, with the banoffee roulade a hit at dessert. Close behind are the homemade pies, steaks cooked exactly as each diner wanted, and a Fish Friday special with super crisp batter. The pub's breakfast with Lincolnshire sausages and poached eggs also draws praise from a camper staying at the rear site, and a live band is a draw for another. The main complaints are about service and the plates. One reviewer waited a very long time for the bill while staff cleaned tables, and felt service was uneven between customers. Another had to order drinks and carry them to the table, found the scallops very small, and thought the rack of lamb was very fatty with little meat. Diners also mention not being rushed to finish a birthday meal.

“We hired the Thatched Cottage function room for our wedding reception and honestly couldn’t have been happier with it. We had a very intimate wedding with just 11 guests, so the size of the room was absolutely perfect for us. The price for 4 hours use was very, very reasonable, especially compared with other options we looked at. We were also able to use the outdoor space, which was lovely. The staff were incredibly accommodating. We were allowed to set up our decorations the day before, and they even packed everything away for us when we came to collect our things the following day, which was a massive help after a busy wedding day! They also kindly let me store our wedding cake there the day before. The drinks were reasonably priced. We were able to bring and use our own music system, which worked really well for the type of relaxed reception we wanted. For food, we chose pizza and chips. It might sound basic for a wedding, but honestly, it was delicious and went down really well with everyone! Every member of staff we dealt with, from the initial booking right through to collecting our decorations the next day, was approachable, friendly and helpful. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and that made the whole experience so much easier. I would highly recommend the Thatched Cottage for anyone looking for a small, relaxed function. It was absolutely perfect for our intimate wedding and gave us exactly the kind of reception we wanted.”

“What a wonderful find ! We were driving in the area and looking for somewhere for lunch. A quick Google showed we were very close to this restaurant, so we soon found it. It's a absolute gem of a place. Quite busy, but we soon found a table. We both had the homemade pies, which I'd heartily recommend. Special mention to the staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Wish it was closer to us, but we hope to return one day”

“We had a great 3 night stay here, pitch was perfect and very well kept, fully serviced pitches, 16 amp electric and adult only, ticks all our boxes. Shower/toilet block is very clean and well kept, pot wash on the side of the shower block. The pub on site serves fantastic food and at great prices, plenty of different beers, wines and spirits to choose from. They do a breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, we had it on Saturday and it was spectacular, lovely fresh produce, Lincolnshire sausages and the eggs had a nice dark orange/yellow yolk, my wife the muffins with 2 very well poached eggs and spinach, again this was lovely, very well priced and I would highly recommend you to try it if you are staying. The staff are so friendly, polite and happy, and they go out of there way to help The phone signal can be very poor and at the moment I don't think they have WiFi, I could be wrong, but it didn't bother us at all, its nice to go away and have peace and quiet. This is definitely one of our favourite sites, we will be booking more visits.”

“We visited with family from Florida. On arrival we expected to be shown to our table and then asked what drinks we would like, but we had to order drinks and carry then to our table. The food was good, but the scallops were a disappointment as they were very small. The rack of lamb was ok but very fatty which meant there was not a lot of meat. The service was very good and the two waitresses were extremely attentive and polite.”
