About The Devonshire Inn

On Newmarket St in Skipton town centre, near the high street, The Devonshire Inn is a pub set in a large townhouse. It is part of the Wetherspoons chain, so orders go through the app, and it opens daily. Real ales sit alongside a pub menu that includes jacket potatoes with chilli non carne or roast vegetables as fillings. Thursday is curry club day, with Madras beef curry among the options. Breakfast is served as well, and the menu carries vegan options, with oat milk sachets available for tea. Bottomless tea and latte are also on offer.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are more specific. One reviewer reports dirty toilets, uncleaned tables, a single bar worker struggling with orders and loud swearing from customers. Another says tables needed wiping and the place needed tidying. A third found many items out of stock on the app for the second visit running, including the festive roast, and settled for a panini instead of Sunday lunch. One Scottish customer says a £20 note was refused and felt discriminated against.

“The Devonshire Inn (Wetherspoons) is very much what you'd expect from the Wetherspoons chain, offering good value food and drinks in a relaxed setting. We ordered a pizza, which was very tasty and well prepared, along with three glasses of Coke to accompany our meal. The pub itself is spacious, with plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors, making it easy to find a comfortable spot even when it's busy. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was efficient. Overall, it's a reliable choice for a casual meal or drink, and a good place to stop if you're in the area.”

“Quick service - piping hot breakfast at the right price. You know where you are with Wetherspoons, this branch upholds the standard.”

“We asked a lady where this place was. She looked shocked to think that we would want to go there. Of all the Wetherspoons we have been to, this was the worst. Few tables were cleaned. Toilets were disgraceful with poo even around the top of the toilet rim. One toilet had the seat missing. I asked if I could have a cloth to wipe out table but all I got was a dry piece of blue roll which did nothing. Service was slow as there was only one young lady struggling to keep up with orders at the bar. Customers were swearing at the top of their voices and later started to sing rude songs for all to hear. We will not be returning. .”

“Went to order a meal but refused to take scottish £20 note, was told its against weatherspoons policy to take scottish £20 notes as they could be fake. Any notes could be fake, surely a big company like weatherspoons would have system to detect fake notes. I feel I was racially discriminated and won't be back. In scotland we accept any type of note as long as its says pound sterling.”
