About The Duck and Drake Bar and Restaurant

The Duck and Drake Bar and Restaurant is a bar and grill on Orby Rd in Skegness, where the entrance doubles as a stall of fresh local produce, with trays of eggs, punnets of strawberries and potatoes. Fridges of homemade cakes and doughnuts stand beside it. The kitchen works to a weekly rhythm. Tuesday is bingo night, Thursday is steak night, and a mixed grill is on the menu. Sunday brings a carvery with a choice of beef, pork, turkey or lamb and unlimited veg. Breakfast is served too. Friday and Saturday evenings add live entertainment and karaoke, and a dance floor gives the acts room to work. Dogs are welcome, and a separate dog-friendly room means owners can bring them along for a meal.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the food, singling out the Sunday carvery with beef, pork, turkey and lamb, the mixed grill, and a minted cottage pie, with several calling the cooking perfect and the portions good. Chicken curry and smothered chicken also get credit, and one reviewer rates the desserts even better than the mains. Close behind are the friendly staff, including a woman who came out of the kitchen to discuss a child's allergies, and the live entertainment, from a Robbie Williams tribute act to bingo night. Outdoor seating by a pond and fresh produce sold at the entrance, especially strawberries, also come up. Complaints are fewer but specific. One group of seven describes greasy ribeye steaks, dry pasta that tasted microwaved, a burnt sausage, and a dessert order that never arrived. One of them reports stomach ache after a gluten free meal. A carvery diner was placed in the dog friendly room, and another noted no disabled parking. The unhappy group asked for a refund, and it was sorted promptly.

“My family and myself had the pleasure of visiting the pub for tea Friday 7th August, the staff, food and service was amazing, my youngest grandson as a few allergies, a lady took the time to come out of the kitchen to speak to my daughter which we was extremely grateful. We visited the pub for a lovely breakfast Tuesday 11th August then again Thursday 20th August for tea. Absolutely 💯 each time”

“I wish we had discovered this place earlier on in our camping trip. The staff were great, so friendly and accommodating. The drinks were great value for money and the food was far better than we expected, especially for the price. It was clearly high quality produce which was cooked to perfection. It got busy quite quickly because it was bingo night. I really wanted to stay for a few drinks, but we had to get the kids back for bed. We will definitely be returning when we go camping again in the area.”

“We have visited twice, second time we went to try the food, I had the Chicken Curry and my partner had the a smothered chicken, both meals came quickly and hot the food was very nice and tasty. It was a little quiet which we didn't mind. The staff were very friendly and i would go back. Sitting outside after was a little treat with a pint before returning home.”

“We came as a 7 person group, expectations weren't high as we came for the first time. Two adults ordered ribeye steaks, medium rare chips etc. They both came super greasy and an incredibly cheap cut of meat. One adult ordered gluten free chicken and chips, no issues but has since questioned whether it was cooked separately as she now has stomach ache. 3 of the 4 kids had pasta which was and I quote 'you can tell it was microwaved as it was super, super dry' and finally, the youngest had burnt sausage and chips. That's the food out of the way... we also ordered dessert, yet an hour and a half later we never received. The waitress has walked past our table for a good 40 mins of our plates stacked up, ready to take Alas, she did not. We honestly gave up and asked for a refund. They did promptly sort that though. Overall, not a good first time and we won't be returning.”

“A friend and I visited for the first time last Thursday as we went to see the entertainer Dyna Mik. Robbie Williams tribute act. He was amazing and a must see. The surroundings are picturesque. Outdoor seating around a pond. Local produce for sale in the entrance at great prices. Trays of eggs. Punnets of strawberries. Water melons. Potatoes and other fruit n veg. Once inside there were fridges of homemade cakes and doughnuts to purchase to either eat in or take away. Lovely big airy place with lots of places to sit. We ordered our food and drink and the bar staff were all lovely and friendly. Our meal was delicious and a great portion size too. Cooked to perfection. Robbie didnt disappoint. He was brilliant. He interacted with the audience, got us all involved. Had a great voice and a fabulous act. Some people had a dance on the dance floor which was nice. We had a couple of games of sticky 13 during Robbies interval and he did his second part. The whole experience was fab. If I have to point out 1 thing it would be that there was no disabled parking but apart from that our experience was Top Notch. Will definitely be returning to try a breakfast and a carvery. Not on the same day though lol”
