Customer Review Summary
Chips are the most discussed item, and the verdict leans negative. Several reviewers describe them as hard, tasteless, or like day-before chips, while others found them saggy and pale or left under the heat too long. One says their teeth hurt afterwards. Fish draws similar complaints: overdone and dry, with batter called chewy, hard, or too crispy. One reviewer found a fishcake butty dried out at the edges with fish that tasted off, and another described a small tray of chips as more like a cone for the money. Several longtime customers say standards have slipped from how good it used to be. Some praise does exist. One reviewer calls the chips really nice, another found the food not greasy with great portions, and a regular orders chips, gravy and gamon every Monday. Staff are described as lovely and friendly, and one parent says the servers remember their order and put their daughter's chips in a box after ballet.

“Chips are really nice. Batter not so much, little too chewy and hard. Should be crispy and light. Think it had been sat in warmer too long.”

“The fish is nice but the chips had been under heat to long”

“Been going for about the past year or so, every time I go it gets worse but still give it the benefit of the doubt of it being a one off bad day because of how good it used to be😔been this afternoon and once again fish was overdone and dry, chips were like day before chips just hard an no taste, couldn’t even force it down it was that bad, waste of £15, won’t be going again! McDonald’s it is!”

“Been today 21-06-26 @ 1.10pm to Admiral on Birley Moor Road for my dinner as a treat as it's too hot to cook . Rest assured I will never go back there and I certainly wouldn't recommend . Don't know how long the chips has been stood but was not good . They all were hard to chew and tasted disgusting . Honestly my teeth hurt . Usually good at this Admiral but shame on you !!!”

“Small tray chips £3 with ketchup £0.75=£3.75 It was more like a cone if chips due to size of it . Prices are ridiculous if your planning to get robbed visit there . Staff very lovely and friendly good service But food not worth it for the price you pay and the miniature portion you get .”
