About Caffe Massarella
Caffe Massarella is an Italian restaurant in Sheffield, on the upper floor of Meadowhall, off to the side and away from the Oasis food area. It serves an Italian afternoon tea, and the wider menu runs to pasta and paninis. Breakfast dishes include poached eggs on smoked salmon, and coffee and cake are offered on their own as well as alongside full meals. The kitchen also puts together a three-course lunch.

Customer Review Summary
Pasta anchors many visits to this Meadowhall spot, with reviewers also naming the sharing platter and crab cakes, poached eggs on smoked salmon at breakfast, sourdough toast, and paninis for a lighter bite. The Italian afternoon tea draws praise for its generous portions and a raspberry jam reportedly made by the chef. Coffee is called tasty and not burnt, and the decaffeinated one gets a specific mention. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming, including with a large group, and diners mention a very good children's menu and great gluten free options. Several like that it feels quieter and more relaxed than the Oasis food area. The recurring caveat is cost: a few say it is not the cheapest, though they feel the quality justifies it. One reviewer adds that the outside seating feels busy with shoppers coming and going. One pair could not finish the afternoon tea desserts and took them home.

“Have visited here 3 times now and it is great. The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing!! It's great to not be in the Oasis area as well so it seems a bit quieter and calmer which we liked. Have had small bites like paninis as well as a more standard meal like pasta and they have all been great. Suitable if you just want a coffee and quick bite or even if you are looking for something larger. Only slight issue is if you are outside seating it can feel a bit busy with so many people coming in and out of Meadowhall. Other than that I would recommend to anyone.”

“Absolutely fantastic, brilliant atmosphere, staff attentive and helpful, food superb (including great gluten free options). Hot food arrives hot, drinks are lovely too, nowhere else I'd rather go for lunch.”

“Our favourite place to stop for a drink or a bite to eat injured the otherwise chaotic Meadowhall. The sharing platter and crab cakes are our go to dish but honestly all the food is lovely. Coffee is always tasty and not burnt like it is in so many places. It's much more relaxed than going to the oasis which often feels like a glorified canteen.”

“Stumbled upon this place as we went to Frasers, as normally we end up in the food quarter, since that the only place we thought the restaurants were. (We don't come very often as its such a long way away to get here) Had a very late lunch, but the quality was excellent. Waitresses were all very nice and knew their jobs. Not the cheapest, but then we prefer quality over quantity. Defo worth a visit”

“Lovely cafe for lunch. Away from most of the crowd and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Little bit on the expensive side but for 3 courses with top quality food, we didn’t feel like £35pp was too bad considering how downhill most of the restaurants in the oasis have gone. Definitely will be returning!!”
