About Imperial Mahal

Imperial Mahal is a restaurant at 1 Pavilion Row in Scunthorpe, set among a row of shops on the edge of town. The kitchen serves Bangladeshi-style cooking through a menu that ranges from seekh kebabs and vegetable samosas to richer plates such as mutton pasanda, chicken tikka bhuna and korah chicken, with mushroom rice, Bombay potato and garlic naan among the sides. Patrons are offered poppadoms and pickles while they read the menu, and the team gives dish guidance, answers questions about less familiar items and will sometimes offer a sample of something new. Curries are cooked to a requested heat, and the kitchen prepares both meat and vegetarian dishes within a halal offering. Dinners are served at the table with full table service, and the same menu is available for takeaway.

“Got a takeaway. Asked for a Chicken Pathia (Vindaloo hot) and they duly obliged. The curry was as requested, a real barn burner but very flavoursome too. Lovely! Had it with Mushroom Rice which was very nice too. Good portion sizes aswell. Delivered by a friendly chap in a timely manner. Thankyou. Keep up the good work.”

“We enjoyed a lovely meal last night at the Imperial Mahal. As always, we were warmly welcomed, shown to our table, offered drinks and a poppadoms and pickles while we perused the menu. Like most people, we tend to pick our favourite dishes when eating in a curry restaurant, but that does mean we are able to compare different interpretations of the same dish. We chose seekh kebabs, and vegetable samosas with a salad garnish to begin. The kebabs were excellent, juicy and full of flavour, and the samosas were light, crisp and very tasty. Our main course were mutton pasanda, korah chicken and chicken tikka bhuna, served with rice and garlic naan, and all three dishes were excellent, and full of flavour. If you are in the mood for a great curry, I can thoroughly recommend the Imperial Mahal!”

“Wonderful evening at the imperial mahal. Staff were so friendly and attentive. Paying special attention to any questions and queries on the menu. They were able to cater for even the pickiest palettes and even gave us some samples of dishes we would never have tried but will definitely be ordering next time. Well done Imperial Mahal”
