Quick info
About Sando Takeaway
On Ashby High St in Scunthorpe, Sando Takeaway serves Chinese food for collection and delivery, with orders brought out by a delivery driver for those eating off site. The menu runs to familiar combinations, with salt and pepper chips a regular order alongside egg rice and curry sauce, and sausage, chips, peas and gravy offered as a meal option. Payment is cash only, and the counter takes walk-ins rather than reservations. It opens evenings only and stays closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so hours are limited to the rest of the week. A wait is common once orders are placed, given the volume the kitchen works through each evening.

Customer Review Summary
Salt and pepper chips are the most repeated draw, with reviewers calling them something they can't beat and one describing them as spicy and unlike what they expected. Close behind are the old school chunky chips, a BBQ dish and egg rice with an omelette, and several reviewers call it the best Chinese takeaway in Scunthorpe. Opinion is split, though, and the complaints are specific. One reviewer received chicken noodle soup instead of chow mein with vegetables, another got pork in batter with a strange sauce instead of pork in oyster sauce, and a third found the Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken tough. A first-time customer described rock hard sausages, oversized chips and lukewarm gravy that was like glue, while another said everything arrived overcooked and burnt black. Others call the food bland and overpriced. One reviewer says the listing shows Monday opening but the takeaway was closed, and one notes a delivery tip that went unacknowledged. Even so, a long-time customer says they have ordered for years.

“Asked for Pork in Oyster sauce, dish was pork in batter with a strange sauce certainly not what I ordered, my Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong Style, chicken was tough probably overcooked. Ive always preferred Sando's to any other take away but this time was very disappointed. Has it changed ownership.”
