Customer Review Summary

The carvery is what most reviewers come for, with several praising the choice of meats, the succulent, melt-in-the-mouth beef and the good selection on the medium carvery. One visitor from two hundred miles away found it better than the carvery near home. Close behind is the staff, described by some as friendly and especially good with children and birthday celebrations. Complaints are mixed and fairly detailed. One reviewer found the roast potatoes, carrots and sprouts raw, with a metallic, chemical taste, and left the plate. Another described roasties as dehydrated like leather, a dry beef lasagne that seemed microwaved, and a dry buttermilk chicken burger with greasy onion rings. Others mention very thinly carved meat, an unattended bar with four people waiting, no cutlery offered with the food, and a group of eight who found the staff unsmiling. One reviewer says staff helped keep a grandmother's birthday cake secret and then brought it out to the table.

“Food was good. Carvery was lovely. All the staff was very unfriendly and standoffish. We were a large group of 8 and not once we're we greeted with a smile or saw any staff actually smile or look like they want to be there. Only one staff member right at the end bringing our desert smiled and had a bit of a chat. We used to go to the one by Doncaster road every month and thought we would try closer. Think we will drive to Doncaster road Green King. Much better atmosphere. Friendly staff from start to finish. And a faster service as well. Only gave 3 stars as the carvery was good.”

“Husbands Birthday, first time here, Carvery looked good but sprouts, carrots and roast potatoes raw and there was an awful metallic chemicaly taste. I left mine. So disappointed especially when we saw the £7.99 seniors menu pre meal and had decided to eat there weekly. We won't be doing that now.”

“Meal beef lasagne very dry around the edge defintely seemed microwaved. Buttermilk chicken burger very dry onion rings very greasy frozen chips are the best i have tasted in a long while. Carvery roasties very dehydrated like leather mash was nice and buttery meat was really nice succulant creamy and melt in your mouth. Service not the best delivered our food never offered to bring any cuttlery had to get our own just a little thing but qould have been nicer to have been offered the service rather than hunting for cuttlery while our food was getting cold”

“Visited for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and was pleased by the experience overall. Friendly service, a clean venue and decent food. Just over £20 for two. Would recommend the Medium Carvery, which had a good selection to choose from, I would definitely recommend to others if in the area and you are after something quick and relatively cheap.”
