About Little Italy
Little Italy is an Italian restaurant in Saint Helens, at 10 Ormskirk Rd, with a lunchtime menu and a specials board where the staff explain each special and its ingredients. Pizza is on the menu, and when the restaurant is busy a pizza van sets up outside to handle the overflow. Afternoon tea is also served, which gives the kitchen a daytime option beyond the usual lunch and dinner. Desserts include tiramisu, and garlic bread, fries and pâté sit among the starters and sides. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers praise fresh, hot Italian food, with one diner calling the pizza light and the best they have had, and another naming the tiramisu as the best they have eaten. Garlic bread that was not greasy, pate, fries, pancakes with a soft, buttery texture and the afternoon tea also get named, and one anniversary diner describes the food as melt in the mouth with decent portions. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and welcoming, and several say they talked through the specials board and the ingredients in each dish. The main caveat is space. Reviewers describe the restaurant as small, and several suggest booking, especially for evenings. One says they had previously struggled to get a reservation, and another thinks walk-ins may struggle to find a table. One family says the small room still felt cosy rather than cramped, and that staff quickly made space for a pram. Another family says the kitchen made plain pasta for a fussy young eater, who finished the whole dish.

“Been meaning to try this place since it opened and this place was honestly pretty great. The food was easily some of the best Italian I've had and it's reasonably priced too, so WILL be returning after payday. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's not the biggest of restaurants so booking ahead of time would be best.”

“Went in for an anniversary meal. Have previously struggled for a reservation and now see why. Food was melt in the mouth and decent size portions. Staff were really friendly. Would highly recommend. Apparently, they are opening another restaurant in Eccleston. It can't come soon enough as this will increase availability for reservations.”

“A lovely weekday evening spent with my family. We chose dishes from both the main menu and the specials, and everything we ordered was fresh, high-quality, and absolutely delicious. The staff were warm, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Although the space is small, it didn’t feel cramped—rather, it added to the cosy and personal atmosphere. We booked, which I would definitely recommend given the size of the restaurant, you may struggle to get a table as a walk-in. It’s a pleasure to support small local business, especially one that delivers such a great experience. We will definitely be visiting again. :-)”
