Customer Review Summary
The negatives are sharper. One reviewer found the chicken curry sauce and chicken like a ready meal, the pancake roll bland and salty, the chicken balls reheated and dry, and only one prawn in the mixed meat curry. Another was quoted a lower family meal price online than the takeaway price at the counter, which they found confusing, and called the food heavy on msg with mushy rice. Parking is described as tight because the place is so busy.

“I have just taken family (6 adults) to this location. It was not planned. We had been elsewhere - Healey's Cider Farm (see separate review). We found ourselves hungry at about 8.30pm. Many places in Cornwall close early in comparison with other areas of the UK. Fortunately the New Garden remains open until 10pm. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was quickly supplied. It was also very good. We had a wide range of foods from the menu. Everyone was happy with their food. My son is, or thinks he is, a food critic so the fact that he was very pleased is a good sign. Cost for 6 with soft drinks (and we have brought some away) just under £120. A very good surprise and well worth a visit.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely brilliant Chinese restaurant! The food was delicious, fresh and full of flavour, and the portions were really good. Everything we ordered tasted amazing and the service was friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the best Chinese meals we’ve had in Newquay. I’d happily come back again and would definitely recommend New Garden to anyone looking for a great Chinese meal!”

“1st time we have been here but definitely won't be the last! Staff were very attentive and friendly, the food was impeccable! The BEST Chinese food I've ever had ! Absolutely beautiful, all cooked fresh and can highly recommend the homemade pancake roll ! All the food was hot fresh and tasty and nothing was too much trouble ! Would highly recommend to everyone! Prices were very reasonable not much more than what it would cost me at home !”

“Drove here with family while staying at nearby hotel. Price online for family meal stated £26 and when we arrived it was £49.50, quite the jump. When we asked why we were informed that the cheaper price was to eat in and it was too late to eat in as it was around 40mins before restaurant closes. Explanation also given was because it costs a lot more for the less fuss option of taking food away whereas eating in, where the restaurant would be doing more work to serve and take care of customers was cheaper (very confusing) We went ahead and paid the price which was nearly double to what we saw online and unfortunately the food was not great and that’s me putting it nicely. Strong on msg flavours, overpowering the food and rice was mushy. Shame as we were looking forward to it and would’ve loved a different experience but food was inedible.”

“Called in one night for a bite to eat after a long day walking around Newquay. We turned up an hour before they closed, had some really nice food, they also helped us keep our little one entertained whilst we ate… the food was great, cooked quick 😅 but it was great, it was fairly busy when we arrived. We got talking to a couple near us who was locals who said it was the best Chinese locally and they came every week, so we felt we had made an excellent choice… we had a variety of choices and left feeling extremely full and content with a good evening. We will visit you again next year… all the best.”
