Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to how the takeaway handles dietary needs, with vegan dishes labelled on the menu and gluten free dishes made for a coeliac daughter, and the phone ordering, where staff double-check item numbers and mistakes are avoided. Among the dishes named, Chicken Satay Skewers, Chicken & Cashew Nuts, Beef & Mushrooms and Chicken in Lemon Sauce get praise, and salt and pepper chips are called good. Several describe friendly staff, and one says the owner remembers customers' names. The complaints are specific. One longtime customer of 30 years describes tough Capital ribs, a watery sauce, lukewarm Special Fried Rice and stale, broken prawn crackers. Another calls the chicken formed and not like real chicken, and a third found the special chow had fatty beef and processed chicken with no shrimps. One reviewer found the food slightly dry and needed extra sauce. A small order problem was resolved straight away over the phone.

“Came over from London and looked for a Chinese in Royston; not so much choice. The food was okay but the special chow main literally consisted of fatty beef and processed chicken- no shrimps and lacked flavour. Salt and pepper chips were good but put in a bag, so the grease made them soggy. All in all- it was okay but nothing to rave about, considering they are one of three in the whole area.”

“We had a very enjoyable take away for visiting friend's last weekend. Ordered by phone and it was ready for a 6.30pm pick-up. Special mention to the Chicken Satay Skewers, Chicken & Cashew Nuts,Beef & Mushrooms, Chicken in Lemon Sauce. It's been a long time since we've used Lotus House but with more friend's visiting soon we will be definitely be trying some more of their excellent food. Definitely recommend 👌.”

“For the prices charged you wouldn’t think it would be to much to ask to use real chicken and meat. The chicken is particularly bad, it’s formed and doesn’t taste like real chicken should. Mine went in the bin and not even my dog got a lookin. This place has continued to go down hill since the owners of around 5 years ago retired and sold up.”
