Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split sharply on Norman House, and sweet and sour chicken draws the most pointed complaints, described as syrupy, sugary and tasteless by one diner, while a longtime customer says the sauces have grown sweeter and thinner over the years. Others report bland chicken satay sauce, tiny chicken balls, and skimpy portions, such as five pieces of beef in a chowmein and four prawns in a chop suey. Delivery waits come up repeatedly, with one reviewer describing a long delay and another noting slow service on Valentine's Day that was made up for generously. One reviewer reports that a husband became seriously ill after the sweet and sour chicken, and another mentions mould-like spots on cucumber served with aromatic duck. Praise centres on the app, which lets customers add special instructions like "no nuts" and choose the protein for each sauce, plus a low MSG meal the staff checked with the chef and described as light and delicious. Several mention helpful staff who fix problems, and one longtime customer says they have never been let down.

“My husband had food poisoning after eating chicken sweet and sour. It was so bad he fainted and had a fall in the toilet and had head trauma. I had to call ambulance and he spent hours in A&E. We were travelling day after and we missed our ferry boat because he was in hospital. Please don’t buy food there. Terrible experience. The worst ever.”

“We have struggled for a long time to find a chinese which is up to scratch in the Horley area but I think we've finally found a potential regular. The service was slow but it was Valentines Day and they very generously made up for the delay with the delivery. Food was hot and very tasty, I think we'll be back.”

“I asked to have a low MSG meal and the lady checked with Chef and removed ingredients with MSG and produced a delicious light, not over salty, natural meal. MSG can go especially if you have high blood pressure. Try it! You will like the difference.”

“Absolute waste of money. Food was tasteless. Cheap chips and hardly any beef in curry.had the Chicken Satay Sauce- one word: bland. Food gave me a weird stomach ache as well. Food hygiene rating just one(IMPROVMENT NECESSARY) terrible. Never again”
