About Ship Inn
Reservations are required at the Ship Inn, a pub on Llanbedrog in Pwllheli, which is unusual for a pub and means tables are held rather than taken on arrival. The kitchen runs a 42-dish menu that stretches from pizza and BBQ wings to a 10oz Sirloin Steak, with Home-Made Arancini and Grilled Camembert among the starters. Fresh haddock comes with home-cooked chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. Sundays bring a separate roast menu of lamb, beef and cheesy leeks, and gluten-free options are marked across the range. Food is prepared fresh to order, so it can take a while to reach the table, and Saturday evenings and Sundays are the busiest sittings. Dogs are welcome, so walkers can bring them along, and there is a beer garden for warmer weather. The pub opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most repeated praise, with diners calling it the best Sunday dinner they have had and singling out the lamb, the beef and cheesy leeks. Close behind is the fresh haddock and chips, described by one visitor as among the best they have eaten, with home cooked chips, tasty mushy peas and tartar sauce that seemed homemade. Others name the BBQ wings, the pizza and a steak cooked to perfection, and one reviewer was pleased by the gluten free options. The welcome and the staff come up in nearly every account, friendly and attentive even on an evening when reviewers later learned the pub was short handed. Several mention how busy it gets and suggest ringing ahead to book a table, and one notes the food took a while to arrive though they felt it was worth waiting for. The beer garden and dog friendly welcome recur too, as does the staff carrying on calmly when thunderstorm flood water started coming in.

“A busy restaurant and we were lucky to get a table. The food is freshly prepared and did take a while. It was well worth the wait though. My son rated the BBQ wings the best he had ever had and the fish was really good. Top notch pizza as well. We'll remember the staff keeping calm and carrying on when the thunderstorm flood water started coming in! Recommend a visit if you are in the area.”
