About Cwrw Llŷn

Cwrw Llŷn is a brewery in Pwllheli, on Nefyn, with a seating area where large windows look into the working brewery, so visitors can see the brewing space from their seats. A brewery tour runs for those who want a closer look, and an indoor fire is part of the setting. The bar pours the Porth Neigwl ale alongside an IPA, a lager and a cider, and a sampler lets drinkers try the beers on offer. Non-alcoholic drinks are available for anyone who doesn't drink beer. The brewery shop stocks merchandise and sells crates of beer.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return most for the Porth Neigwl ale, with the lager, IPA, cider and a tasting sampler close behind. Several say every beer they tried was good, and one calls it much cheaper to drink here than elsewhere on the peninsula. Large windows let visitors watch the brewing, and others mention the fire indoors, picnic tables and an outdoor shed, a brewery shop with crates to take away, and a tour. Dogs and walkers are described as welcome, and non-alcoholic options and free WiFi come up for drivers and older children. Bar staff are repeatedly called friendly and chatty. One reviewer gave a low score, saying that while the beers were decent, staff looked straight through them with contempt when they tried Welsh pronunciation, and described a pecking order among customers. Others close on wanting to return, with one calling it a regular visit in the making after a quick bus ride from Pwllheli.

“Had a lovely time here, came over from Pwllheli. One quick bus ride and your there. Big windows to help you see into the brewery. Helpful staff behind the bar and real great welsh ale. This will become a regular visit. Cheers”

“Decent beers, but if you’re trying to learn Welsh pronunciation, the staff look straight through you in contempt. There’s clearly a pecking order, which is strange as I thought my money was the same as everyone else’s. Here for a couple of weeks first place that’s off my list.”

“Really enjoyed this lovely small local brewery. Plenty of places to sit. Bar woman was lovely and chatty had a laugh with her. I tried the lager and my husband had the cider. Yummy! We can see the brewery doing there making through the large window. Lovely environment. Popular with walkers and dogs.”
  • Peter Thompson
“Amazing little brewery bar. Dog friendly and every pint spot on! Tried 1 of everything they had to offer, all perfect.”
