  “The only pub in England that is making so much money it can turn away 50 people for a funeral. Went to book a private room. It was booked, fair enough. When we said ok we will just come in and use the normal bar the response " I wouldn't it will only be me in and I wont cope". So a 8 day warning for more staff to be secured for a few hours isn't enough. Obviously doing very well!”

  “Stopped by The Good Companion in Portsmouth for a drink and had a really enjoyable visit. The pub had a fantastic atmosphere, warm, welcoming, and friendly from the moment we arrived. It’s the kind of place where you can immediately relax and feel comfortable. The venue was clean, well-presented, and had a great community feel to it. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. Even though we only stopped in for drinks, the experience was excellent and left a great impression. A perfect local pub with a lovely atmosphere and great service. We’ll definitely be back next time we're in the area. Highly recommended! 🍻😊”

  “The blonde haired woman behind the bar who looks like a manager on 19/06/26 was one of rudest people I have ever been served by. Just rude and miserable. Was serving the next customer before I even went to pay. No thanks or any kind of manners. She was just pandering to her mates and the local rowdy lot. Pathetic customer service from her. She should learn from the younger staff who were lovely and super polite. Food was good and came quickly.”

  “I come to the good companion for a few pints every so often! can’t fault the atmosphere and staff they are brilliant! If you want a pub that’s family friendly with great children food please do go and visit!”

  “Been to my nephews surprise 50th birthday party tonight. Wow this venue was the best I have been to for a very long time. The buffet was gorgeous, so many people were saying it’s the best they had ever had. The staff were amazing, really made the night so special and so dedicated to making it a perfect night. Also the drinks are not overpriced like many pubs, so we did have more trips to the bar than usual. lol Being elderly I also appreciated how clean and beautiful the whole place is. I guess that’s a personal thing with me and not something everyone would notice. I honestly can’t recommend The good companion enough. Thank you to all the excellent staff for making tonight so wonderful.”

  “Had a great time at the Good Companion Pub on New Year’s Eve. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a perfect place to celebrate. The live music really stood out. The female singer was fantastic and added so much to the evening. A really enjoyable night overall, would happily visit again”

  “Really lovely and well run pub. I get a little anxious in pubs, and this is one of the few I’ll go to, it has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The landlords are regularly doing things , we attended the Halloween party which my children loved, and are back this month for breakfast with the Grinch. Family friendly, great food, also good for the football supporters. Definitely one of my favs! X”

  “Update: This used to be my favourite place to have a night out. Sadly in the past half the year the food quality and also the quantity went sideways a lot and prices went sky high. You can check my photos uploaded here to see the 1st and the last meal we had. There are massive differences in between these. 😑😑😑 Delicious food, great staff and really friendly environment 😊🥂🍔 Will definitely be back and recommend to others 😋”
