About Barry Sidings Cafe
Barry Sidings Cafe is a cafe in Porth, set beside a lake, a children's play area and a park. The kitchen serves jacket potatoes, including a vegan chilli version, and hot and cold drinks are on offer. Tiny Rebel ales are available for those who want something stronger than tea or coffee, and cookies are sold at the counter. The park next door has walking and bike trails, so the cafe sits on a route that cyclists and walkers can follow. The cafe is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Jacket potatoes lead the praise, described as huge and tasty, with a vegan chilli version and a cheese and beans version both called incredible. Close behind, one reviewer calls the burger better than a lot of the Insta-famous spots in Cardiff, while others single out the cookies at the counter, the hot chocolate, the coffee, the ice cream and a selection of Tiny Rebel ales. Reviewers repeatedly describe the staff as friendly, polite and helpful, and several mention value for money. The setting draws walkers, cyclists, dog walkers and families, with a flat path, a lake, a play area and seating indoors and out. The cafe gets busy. On the downside, one reviewer describes the disabled toilet as smelly, with a wet floor and a very old baby changing mat, and chose not to eat there. Another calls the outdoor areas run down, with no weeding and scruffy tables. A third found it chilly because the doors were open on arrival, until staff closed them.

“Can’t believe I’ve lived in the area for so long without coming here! Recently went on a nature walk and found this little gem at the end of it. Absolutely bustling atmosphere and the food was delicious and affordable. The jacket potatoes are huge and so tasty, and the cookies at the counter are phenomenal. Does seem like it can get incredibly busy but when the weather is good there’s ample seating outside with lots of grass And forest areas around. Have been back a few times since and have had a lovely time each time.”
