Customer Review Summary

Tandoori chicken is the dish diners name most often, and one reviewer calls it an absolute favourite alongside the chicken ruby, which another party also found spectacular. Bottomless chai, the chicken keema pau at breakfast, cheesy garlic naan, and lamb samosa also come up. Reviewers describe food that arrived boiling hot, full of flavour and authentic, with dishes that each tasted different. Servers draw repeated praise for explaining the menu, refilling water unasked, and taking care over tree nut and other allergies. The crispy spinach chaat divides opinion. One diner came back within a week for it, while another found it closer to spinach pakora with yogurt and a tamarind sauce that was too sweet. Others mention smaller portions and a room that grew noisier near midday, with one suggesting mornings for a quieter meal and another saying a reservation is essential on busy days. One family asked for a dessert to mark their young daughter's birthday and was not charged for it.

“My party got the cheesy garlic naan, tandoori chicken, and dishoom chicken ruby dish. All were spectacular! Our server, Pratik, was very considerate and thoughtful about my tree nut allergy and gave us incredible service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cute, authentic, tasty place.”

“I went for the Breakfast menu with Oxford Girl Network and we all had a lovely time with fantastic company and great food. I had the Chicken Keema pau and their unlimited Chai tea. The Chicken Keema pau was so filling and it tasted so good. The staff, servers and manager on the day were very welcoming and the service was really really good; with non stop filling of Chai tea which was delicious and fresh! I would love to come back again soon to try different things on the menu. If you are after a much quieter meal I would advise to go in the morning as it got much noisier nearer to 12pm. The morning was perfect for us to chat and eat.”

“One of the best Indian restaurants i’ve been to, outside of India. Food was excellent. Every dish was bursting with flavour and was spot on. Portion sizes are on the smaller side but food was definitely worth it. My absolute favourite had to be the Tandoori chicken and the Chicken Ruby. Also, be sure to try their bottomless chai at the end of the meal.”

“I had the most wonderful experience here at Dishoom. Kamron was the most wonderful server, who was so attentive to all of our needs and went out of his way to make us have the best experience ever. They were so attentive to my allergies and constantly providing wonderful service and care. The food is incredibly made and feels so authentic. I will be coming back all the time.”

“Fantastic little find. On of only a very few Indian restaurants that I have been to where each dish really tasted completely different and was a delight to savour. Our waiter Pratik was very welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommended if you are in Oxford. Service was quick. Try the lamb samosa...”
