About The Mulberry Tree Restaurant

Inside a garden centre in Orpington, The Mulberry Tree Restaurant is a large restaurant with plenty of seating and a 57-dish menu. Mini afternoon teas come in savoury and sweet versions, each with a choice of tea or coffee. The wider menu runs from Pancakes and Beans On Toast to Pizza. Orders are placed at the till by the entrance with a table number, or by scanning the QR code on the menu to order from the table, and the team brings the food over. A designated quiet zone sits within the restaurant. Tables can be pulled together for large groups.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers mostly praise quick service, especially when ordering by QR code. Named dishes include a tuna cheese onion ciabatta, a mozzarella pesto tomato flatbread and mini afternoon teas, called filling. A group of 11 found tables on a Saturday lunchtime. One reviewer found service poor: cake and coffees were dumped on the table, plates stayed, and no sugar came.

“Nice there was a quiet zone, nice the menu was varied. The service was quite bad considering we even ordered via the QR code. Ok there was no olive oil but we could have been told so more kindly. When after lunch we ordered coffees and cake, these were dumped on our table and the waiter walked away, I had to call him and ask him to please take our plates from our 2-person table. How could we be left to enjoy our cake with the dirty plates still around? Then I had to get up to ask for sugar/sweetener as none was brought to us. This restaurant is in great need of improvement but still decided to be generous and give 3 stars.”

“Within the Ruxley Manor Garden Centre the Mulberry Tree Restaurant is a very large restaurant with plenty of seating and a quieter eating area also. The menu is large and varied. We tried the savoury and also the sweet mini afternoon teas (£11.99 each and includes your choice of any tea or coffee - members of our party had a pot of normal English tea, a green tea and cappuccinos). We thought this was a great value option and very filling. Get a table, order your food/drinks at the desk by the entrance and it’s all brought to your table. There are pods outside which I think you can book at possibly an extra charge (not sure on that). See photos for vast menu and photos/video of the restaurant. All within a great garden centre. Large car park with free parking. Access good for wheelchairs. Gets busy at weekends and around Christmas time.”

“Have visited a couple of times and always been impressed with the quality of food and speed of service. The place is well set up to deal with busy periods, especially if you embrace the online ordering system (scan the QR code on the menu) …”

“A real mixed bag of reviews! This is our experience and review. Choose the time you go carefully so of course avoid the 1pm - 2pm rush. I haven't been here for at least 4 years and what a difference! Either order at the till (with your table no) or scan the code to order from your table. We arrived at 1.55 on Friday when there was a lull in orders and people finishing their lunch. I had a tuna cheese onion ciabatta with salad and my daughter had mozzarella pesto tomato flatbread with chips; both really good. Our drinks, tea and peach tea arrived very quickly and food shortly after. Lovely hard working friendly staff as well so we enjoyed our lunch. : ))”

“All round positive experience. We were in a group of 11 and managed to find 3 tables to pull together on a Saturday lunchtime at midday. When we ordered on the app it said we might have to wait 20 mins, but the food started arriving within …”
