  “It was in the basement of our hotel so convenient! The staff were nice and the beer cold. Food was pretty standard, but tasty. Burger was big! My only gripe was that the clientele was a little standoffish and it was hard to make conversation with anyone as a solo traveler.”

  “The young man that served us was very sweet, as were the rest of the staff. All very friendly, smiled and greeted us. The food was magnificent! We had the chilli con carne and the meat and ale pie wish mashed potatoes - both super delicious and were served very quickly! Nice bar, if you want to have a drink and hang out, or like us - have dinner. Would definitely visit again, if we have the chance!”

  “This was a brilliant find in Oban. We went looking for a dog friendly pub in Oban that served food and stumbled upon Markie Dans. It is a traditional pub on the one hand with pool table and Sky Sports on the TV but alongside this we sat in a private booth and enjoyed a superb meal. The squid starter was unique, deep fried in a beautiful batter and served with a hot chilli and onion relish and the mini portion of scampi was quality on a plate. The steak pie ( served only with a lid unfortunately) had a rich gravy and quality chunks of meat whilst the smoked haddock thermidor had a beautiful rich and creamy cheese and mustard sauce, mashed potato and a sizeable chunk of haddock ( I would have preferred peas/and or carrots instead of salad but that is a minor gripe). The service was excellent and the young man serving us was extremely polite and helpful. In all an extremely pleasant experience and I would thoroughly recommend this place either for a casual drink or a nice meal.”

  “We had an incredible evening at Markie Dans in Oban! This lively restaurant and bar perfectly captures the spirit of the Scottish Highlands with its welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and fantastic live music. The highlight of our meal was definitely the sticky toffee pudding – absolutely divine! It was warm, moist, and drenched in the most luxurious creamy sauce we've ever tasted. Every bite was pure indulgence, and it's easily one of the best desserts we've had in Scotland. If you visit Markie Dans, this is an absolute must-order! The live music added such a special touch to our evening. The traditional musicians created a wonderful ambiance that was quintessential Scotland and had everyone tapping their feet and enjoying the authentic entertainment. It's the kind of experience that makes you feel truly immersed in local culture and hospitality and so happy to be in this harbor town. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was relaxed yet energetic. Whether you're looking for great food, excellent service, or a memorable night out with live entertainment, Markie Dans delivers on all fronts. Arrive early for a seat or you may have to wait, try the ciders as well.”
