About Lorne Bar
Lorne Bar is a dog-friendly pub on Stevenson St in Oban, so dog owners can bring their pets along when they come in to eat or drink. The kitchen cooks local seafood, with mussels on the menu and a seabass catch of the day that changes with the specials. Pub classics sit alongside it, and haggis bites cover a local speciality. Vegetarian and vegan options are on the menu too, for those who skip meat and fish. At the bar, the drinks list runs across whisky, beer and wine. The pub opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
Fish is the main draw at this Oban pub, with reviewers singling out the haddock and chips as the best they had across Scotland, and a catch of the day seabass in a Moray sauce that one diner liked enough to order again the next day. Close behind are mussels, haggis bites, steak pie and the Yorkshire pudding, along with a spicy chicken enchilada and a vegan burger to go. Several describe friendly, attentive staff, and the dog-friendly welcome comes up repeatedly, including a biscuit and bowl of water for one pooch. A few mention the beer, wine and whisky selection and fair prices. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the old fashioned watery, with the sweetener only added after the drink arrived, and the man taking the order snapped when asked about the vegetarian bangers, which they said had been cut back since the pub moved. Another visitor found no food available one evening. One party of ten walked in without a reservation and was seated after a patient wait, with staff going out of their way to fit them in.

“I came to the Lorne in 2019 and wanted to return with friends. I appreciated the vegetarian options - especially the vegetarian bangers and mash! They have moved and don’t have as many vegetarian options. The old fashioned was honestly the worst old fashioned I’ve ever had! So watery and they had to bring out the sweetener because she forgot to add it to the drink! The man we ordered from was grumpy - when I asked him about the vegetarian bangers he snipped - is it on the menu?? Geesh! One of the wait staff was fabulous! Tall guy - super friendly and helpful.”

“A lovely bar that's a little bit out of the way of the usual tourist traps. I've been here twice with family, over a year apart and it was amazing both times. Good prices for amazing food, everything's hot and fresh when it comes out and everything was tasty. Obviously has some local specialities, lots of seafood dishes and different specials each time I've been, along with some good pub classics. I had the spicy chicken enchilada- would recommend.”

“Visited "The Lorne Bar" today—my second time stopping by for a whiskey. The welcome was incredibly warm; a big thank you to the lovely dark-haired server. Unfortunately, no food was available that evening due to health reasons, but everything looked delicious, and I would recommend the place to anyone. It is a pub with heart and soul... you don't just have a drink; you reflect on the day and savor every fleeting moment. Thank you...”
