Quick info
About OH MY COD
OH MY COD is a fish and chips takeaway at 115 St James' Mill Rd in Northampton. The menu starts with chip shop basics, with fish and chips served as haddock or cod. Kebabs with fries and smash burgers sit on the same menu, so the food reaches beyond fish alone. That mix lets one order combine fish and chips with a burger or a kebab. The shop opens daily, which puts all three styles of food within reach every day of the week.

Customer Review Summary
Fish and chips split reviewers sharply, and the chips draw the most complaints. Several describe them as pale, undercooked, or covered in black spots, with one tasting of gone off chip fat and another managing only a third of the portion. The fish fares similarly in the negative accounts: soggy and not crispy, a large cod described as tiny, and one reviewer reports a haddock that smelled off. Others call the fish and chips freshly made, tasty, and consistent, and one praises fast delivery. Close behind, the kebab and fries earn an excellent verdict with lovely, authentic sauces, while the curry sauce and sausage were called ok. Bland mushy peas, scampi that looked like identical frozen pieces, and smash burgers that arrived as just bun and meat also draw complaints. Service is friendly in some accounts, though one reviewer found staff not very engaging and another had to keep repeating themselves. The reviewer with the off haddock, having no time to return it, was confident it would have been replaced with no argument.

“Shoud be called oh my god what awful food!! Ordered a large cod and chips, the fish was tiny and in no way a large portion, chips weren't even cooked properly and tasted of gone off chip fat, utterly disgusting. will stick with duston village chippy, only chose this place because duston was closed, definitely wont come here again”

“Used to be a decent takeaway, now nothing prepared, brought in from who knows where, very disappointed with the quality of the food and time to wait... Avoid”

“My first visit for years, I might have been unlucky but I could only eat a third of the chips, most were either inedible or had lots black spots on them, I'm guessing now either cheap potatoes or cheap precut. I also had to keep repeating myself. Luckily the sausage was ok”

“Went in today and it was no good, the new guy isn’t good at making food. Normally it’s much nicer when the taller guy is working.”

“I ordered two smash burgers but by the time I got home and looked it was just bun and meat very disappointed I’m only going in depending who’s behind the till”
