Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the pork leg rice, the braised, tender khao kha moo that several compare to what they ate in Chiang Mai, with one noting the silky skin. Close behind is the Pad Kee Mao, called authentic and generous in portion, followed by minced pork basil with a crispy fried egg and homemade chilli fish sauce, boat noodles with pork, a papaya salad with seafood and crispy pork, the prawn pad Thai, and a Thai tea. Thai diners repeatedly say the flavours taste like home, and one calls the broth the best they have had. Staff are described as friendly even when the room is busy, food arrives quickly, and several mention large portions and reasonable value. One reviewer was allowed to bring a small dog inside. No recurring complaints appear in the reviews. One diner who lost cash found it waiting in an envelope with the amount and time noted, and the staff declined a tip.

“I went to Thai House Cafe last Sunday evening. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem! Food was amazing, authentic Thai food and flavour which reminded me of my trip to Chiang Mai! The portion is HUGE. We ordered signature pork leg stew with rice, boat noodles with pork and papaya salad with seafood and crispy pork. I really enjoyed the Thai spiciness and freshness in the salad. Staff are very friendly even in busy time, and they allow me to bring my small dog with me inside!”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Every time I feel homesick, Thai House is the first place I think of. I ordered the minced pork basil with a crispy fried egg, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavours were bold, authentic, and tasted just like the food I grew up with in Thailand. The fried egg had perfectly crispy edges with a runny yolk, and the homemade chilli fish sauce made it even better. It's so hard to find truly authentic Thai food abroad, but Thai House never disappoints. Every visit feels like a little trip back home, not just because of the food, but also because of the warm atmosphere and friendly service. If you're looking for real Thai flavours in Newcastle, I couldn't recommend this place more. I'll definitely keep coming back whenever I'm missing home. 🇹🇭❤️”

“Absolutely spot on! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the best Thai meals I’ve had in a long time. Proper authentic Thai flavours — full of taste and exactly how Thai food should be. 🇹🇭 The food came out quickly even though the restaurant had a great lively buzz and a lovely atmosphere. The braised pork leg with rice was absolutely beautiful — rich, tender and packed with flavour. The drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao) were spot on as well, with that proper Thai kick! Great food, friendly vibes and a place I’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommended! 👌”
