About Malverleys Farm & Dining
Malverleys Farm & Dining is a modern British restaurant in Newbury, set on a working farm where a market garden, deli, gift shop, lecture space and nursery sit alongside the dining room. The kitchen cooks with seasonal ingredients, many of them grown on-site in that garden. Pizzas from a pizza oven appear on the menu, and the counter also serves cakes, teas, coffees and soft drinks. Guests order at the counter. Horticultural workshops give visitors a way to learn more about growing, and the deli and gift shop stock sustainably sourced products. The grounds include a garden with a guided tour. A car park serves the site, with additional parking near the barns.

Customer Review Summary
The main complaint is value at lunch. Two reviewers found the pizzas small and flavourless, with weak dough and one undercooked, and the sea bass arrived as a single fillet with a handful of new potatoes. One also described a vinegar-soaked salad and a tea that tasted like tinted hot water. Another objected that sitting outside meant a menu of just three pizzas. A few also find coffee pricey, and one notes there is no kids menu. One reviewer was refused a yogurt at three minutes past the cut-off for food orders and called the service surly.

“Great variety of cakes and teas, coffees and soft drinks. Pretty garden area with seating. Wheelchair friendly entrance. I haven't used the washrooms but expect they're great. The coffees were a little pricey, and they don't add in a small biscuit or chocolate to make you feel better. Haven't eaten in the restaurant. It's got plenty of parking and wasn't crowded on a Tuesday at 11am”

“Nice place for a spot of brunch. Coffee was reasonable though could be better considering the price (a flat white is £4.80). Food was tasty however there is no kids menu. (Most) staff were very friendly / pleasant. We would return but only if passing.”

“Unfortunately, the value for money wasn’t great, and we left feeling quite disappointed. We travelled around 45 minutes to visit and expected a much better lunch experience. Given the quality of the pizza oven, we had high expectations for the pizzas, but they were below average, particularly the dough. The pizzas were small, lacked flavour, and weren’t presented particularly well. At £22 each, we expected much more. It may be worth taking some inspiration from Mono Pizza in Basingstoke, whose bases are consistently excellent. The sea bass was also disappointing from a value perspective. At £32, receiving just a single fillet and a handful of new potatoes, it felt very steep and difficult to justify. On a positive note, the setting is beautiful and the service was fantastic throughout our visit. It’s just a shame that the food didn’t meet the same high standards. Based on this experience, we wouldn’t be inclined to return and wouldn’t recommend it to others.”

“Amazing service, a fantastic burger, and a great atmosphere from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, and they went out of their way to make our 1-year-old feel comfortable and included. Everyone was genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back!”

“I visited the cafe on this visit, and the quality is obvious from the second you turn off the road into the drive up to the car park. Set in lovely grounds and gardens, it's quiet location is restful and relaxing, the service is equally calm and nicely paced. The flat white was wonderful, and the cookie was about an inch thick, crunchy, soft, chocolatey and delicious.”
