About Smart Fish Bar
Smart Fish Bar is a fish and chip takeaway on East Anton in Andover, working from a menu of 26 dishes. A gluten-free option is prepared and packaged separately, which gives customers avoiding gluten their own order kept apart from the rest. The chip side of the menu runs from Family Chips to Chips & Cheese, and the sausage range includes a Saveloy. Staff serve at the front counter, and orders can also be placed online or in advance. The shop is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

“I have used Smart Fish bar for the last 5 years and have always been happy with the price and quality despite the understandable price increases. However recently I decided to try Zenith Fish Bar and found the quality and price to be equal, but the fish portion size much better value for money. Sorry Smart but you are demoted to second place for the foreseeable future.”

“Amazing service from the girls at the front. The cod and chips was lovely and fresh, crispy cod and fluffy chips. The kebab was amazing. Best chippy in the area for sure!”

Customer Review Summary
Cod and chips is what reviewers raise most, with several describing it as fresh, with crispy cod and fluffy chips, and one saying a large portion of chips feeds four. The kebabs come close behind, called great quality by a couple of reviewers who also single them out as the best around. Others point to generous portions, fast and friendly service, and a clean shop, and a few note that gluten free orders were prepared and packaged separately and that ordering in advance is possible. The complaints are specific. One diner describes cod that was hard, dried up and strong smelling, while another waited a long time for cod and chips in an empty shop as later orders left first. A third was handed chicken nuggets instead of the scampi they ordered, and staff seemed puzzled when they asked for the original order. One reviewer found little cheese on the cheesy chips, and a longtime customer says a rival shop now gives a bigger fish portion for similar price and quality. One reviewer returned the nuggets and asked for the scampi they had paid for.
