About Naafiah Grill Nelson

Parathas anchor the menu at Naafiah Grill Nelson, a halal restaurant at Unit 1 in the centre of Nelson, on a main road with free parking outside. The aloo, plain and keema versions come out large and cut into slices like a pizza, which makes them easy to share. Alongside them the kitchen cooks curries including chicken handi, lahori chanay and desi saag, while the shami burger and haleem sit among the breakfast and snack options. Desi chai is a standard order, with rooh afza and milk another choice at the table. Platters and set offers run through lunch, afternoon and evening, among them a Ramadan platter that pairs a curry choice with samosa, spring roll, pakora and a mint-yoghurt dip. Orders are placed at a till counter and the dining room works on a walk-in basis, with indoor seating laid out to take families and larger groups. Dogs are welcome, and the doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are serious but come from a minority. One reviewer says an order slip was lost, the food arrived after a long wait, and both omelettes came spicy instead of one plain. Another reports a delivered chicken biryani with pink chicken on the bone and kebabs that arrived freezing. A third felt a place named for parathas should make them the best. One diner warns against ordering too much, as they did.

“Tried it first time for a quick snack on my way down South - called for a shami anda burger and desi chai. Tbh my expectations were not too high but the burger was spot on tasty, very fresh and perfect. The service was excellent. Will definitely come back to try some more!”

“Food was awful, ordered a Chicken Biryani for delivery to have it arrive with the chicken on the bone (did not have a discription on the menu) and still pink! Chicken burger was disgusting and didn't even look like chicken, and kebabs were freezing we had to warm them up when they arrived. Will never be ordering from here again! Can not comment on the Atmosphere as we ordered for delivery.”

“I've been here three times and I'm impressed. This time it was a quiet early evening a few days into Ramadan. Usually there are some good value offers for lunch, afternoon and evening. This time I tried the Ramadan Platter for £7.99. (see picture for details) The young lady taking the orders at the till was very pleasant and helpful and the food arrived not too long after. It was very well presented and my options were roti and rooh hafza with milk. The spring roll and samosa were ok, the pakora was really good. Pakora with a bhaji wrapping is how I would describe it. The mint/yoghurt dip was good. For my two curry choices I had Chicken Jalfrezi and Desi Saag. Both were very good. Overall it was a good experience with very good service and food and excellent value.”

“Excellent food and prices. Parathas were amazing and very good size. The lahori chanay and chicken handi were also really good. Good seating for groups as well. Be careful not to order too much like we did! 😁”

“I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The weather outside was wet and cold so I really did appreciate the warmth inside along with the friendly atmosphere! The Haleem was so good and the paratha’s were beautiful along with desi tea. I love this place!”
