On Upper Fourth St in Milton Keynes, Thai Modern is a Thai restaurant with hand-carved teak furniture, traditional Thai water features and tropical plants throughout the dining room. The tables and chairs were sourced from Thailand, so the whole interior follows a Thai style. Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the curries, naming the green curry as unrivalled and the Thai jungle curry as full of flavour, with Tom Yum and Tom Ka Kai close behind. Several call the food fresh, well balanced and authentic, and long-time customers say the quality stays consistent. The carved wooden tables and Thailand-sourced furniture get repeated mentions, along with a varied menu and vegetarian options that one reviewer says are not an afterthought. Some find it a little pricey, and one says the mixed starter was nice but expensive. Complaints are more specific elsewhere. One diner describes the beef as chewy, a small lemonade, and a service charge they asked to have removed. That same reviewer reports seeing a rat three times from a window seat. A party of about 20 waited another ten minutes for five dishes, and a bowl of prawn crackers carried a charge. Others want a cocktail menu, more non-alcoholic drinks, and less upright chairs. One reviewer notes the Sunday buffet is no longer offered.

“We were a party of circa 20, most food came out at the same time but about 5 of us sat waiting another 10mins. No draft beer, and a bowl of prawn crackers is circa £4 which I thought would have been free especially for a party of 20.. Food was very tasty though!”

“Good:Carved tabled look amazing. Mixed starter nice but expensive. Bad: Beef was really chewy, my lemonade was very little bottle and there was a service charge which I hate. I asked to remove. I don't have a problem paying it if any anything exceptional otherwise its just their job. Ugly: I sat by the window 🪟 and 3 times saw a big rat 🐀 running around. This is really off putting while you eating. I could see there was a 🐀 trap outside. But simply they need to get their pest control to sort it. Whoever is their pest control their are not doing a job good enough and should be called immediately to sort it. Overall experience only 3* overpriced didn't help either. Been a big fan of Thai food and having it very often, and this one needs improvement for sure.”

“Amazing food and excellent service at Modem Thai Milton Keynes. The Thai jungle curry and Green curry and starters were full of flavour, fresh, and beautifully spiced. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. A lovely place with great atmosphere and authentic Thai taste. Highly recommended. Thanks 🙏🏻”
