About Frankie’s Toasties
Frankie’s Toasties is a toastie café and fast food restaurant at 98 A Portland St in Manchester. Its 82-item menu puts toasties first, from the Hand Torn Pork Toast to a chicken tikka and cheese toastie and a Super Noodle toastie. Sweet toasties sit alongside the savoury ones, and meal deals pair a toastie with onion rings and a can of pop. A vegan option is on the list for those who skip meat and dairy. The drinks list adds milkshakes and a mango lassi. Cups and bags carry a drawing of a dog named Frankie.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the toasties, with the chicken tikka and cheese version singled out repeatedly as a favourite. Mac and cheese toasties draw praise too, including one with ham and hash browns added, and Steak and Cheese, peri peri and cheese, and a simple Cheese and Beans toastie all get mentions. Close behind are the chicken wings in sriracha and peri peri sauces, described as crunchy and large enough to leave chips unfinished, along with chocolate milkshakes, a mango lassi and coffee. Several mention friendly staff and a short wait for takeaway orders. The main caveat is value and pace: one reviewer who added onion rings and a can of pop to a meal deal said it was not great value, and another waited a little during a busy morning of deliveries. The branded cups and bags featuring Frankie the dog are what one reviewer adored.

“First time here, I think I may just have randomly stumbled on my favorite sandwich place. Had the chicken tikka with cheese and it was the best!!! Will try out other options when next I’m in city.”

“Just bought some sandwiches for breakfast, turns out it is really tasty and worth the price. Also suitable if you wanna have not light and not heavy breakfast, this is one of the recommended place to go. Very friendly staff as well”

“The toasties are to die for oh my dayssss! I got the mac and cheese with ham and has browns added (strange combo I know) and it was honestly just soooo good!”

“*Visited Oct 2024* I shared Chicken Tikka & Cheese and Steak & Cheese toasties with a friend. I made mine a Meal Deal with onion rings and a can of pop…but at £4, this wasn’t amazing value. It’s still a lovely bit of comfort food, though. * A toastie café- simply wonderful! My friend and I shared a Cheese and Beans Toastie: comfort food as its finest. I know this is something you can make at home, but I really enjoyed it. There are sweet toasties and meal deals, too. I’ll be more adventurous, next time: there’s a Super Noodle toastie, though I’m not sure how to feel about that.”
