Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is the draw reviewers raise most. One calls the English breakfast outstanding, served with a good cup of tea, and another praises a breakfast cooked with locally sourced produce. Close behind are the mixed grill, which one reviewer says won't disappoint, and a roast that brought one family back a few days after their first visit. Reviewers also credit the beer, including a good choice of keg ale, and describe a proper pub atmosphere with a log burner, a quiet bar, live music one evening, and a garden with a play area. Staff are called friendly and welcoming, and dogs are seen in the bar. The complaints centre on the kitchen and staffing. One reviewer found a steak full of gristle, noted only one vegetarian option, and says fried food is cooked in beef fat, so vegans cannot have chips. Others mention a slightly long wait for food, a visit when the chef was off, and only one or two people covering bar and floor. One diner recalls the landlady making a fuss of their spaniel.

“A very cozy old pub with lots of outdoor seating space and a restaurant and fair sized bar area with a log burner. Good priced beer and welcoming staff and regulars.. I really enjoyed both of my brief stop offs their for a quiet pint. Named as Lowestofts oldest pub, it is handily located for access to the beach and the old church yard just out the back gate and to the right.”
