About The Ivy Cafe Blackheath
The Ivy Cafe Blackheath is a British restaurant on Montpelier Vale in London, open daily from breakfast into the evening, with cocktails also served. Breakfast includes an Eggs Benedict deal with coffee or tea, which you request when ordering your drink. On the main menu, the steak comes with a peppercorn (au poivre) sauce. For dessert, the crème brûlée is finished with a blow torch at the table, so diners see the final step happen in front of them. The dining room is fitted with dark wood, marble surfaces and plants, and the napkins carry ivy leaf designs. Birthdays and other special occasions get a free cake or treat with a candle.

Customer Review Summary
Attentive, friendly service runs through most reviews, often with celebration touches such as a cake with a candle at a birthday breakfast and a celebration plate sent over at lunch. Eggs benedict is singled out as really nice and well presented, while the steak earns praise mainly for its peppercorn sauce, which one diner calls the star and another ranks among the best au poivre they have had. Calamari, warm bread baskets, mashed potatoes and a duck salad also get mentions, along with a dark wood and marble dining room and stylish toilets. The kitchen draws the recurring complaints. One breakfast arrived lukewarm, with stone cold toast, a replacement barely warmer and overdone poached eggs. Another diner found the half chicken with peanut sauce underdone, the Korean fried chicken sauce like mustard, the profiterole ice cream melted and the coffee bitter. A few call it pricey, and one found the starter portions small and the minute steak below expectations. The creme brûlée has its topping flambéed with a blow torch at the table.

“The Ivy Cafe Blackheath gets a solid 3 for its excellent service, high quality ingredients used in my breakfast and well presented. We do have to knock two points for the food being cold. We sent back the toast as it was stone cold and the replacement wasn’t much better. The breakfast overall was luke warm, which was a real shame. At this price point and being part of the Ivy Collection, I expect better from them. It’s clear the food was left on the pass too long. The poach eggs on all three plates were over done. Overall, an ok breakfast but disappointing on the food.”

“Second time coming here in the past year (first time was for brunch and it blew me away) this time was lunch. Wow. Literally another incredible experience in the books. Yes obvs the cutest restaurant and great food. But the SERVICE? Paloma was so lovely, so kind, great recommendations and even sent over a celebration plate for the birthday girl. She genuinely made it a fantastic dining experience. We left wishing we had cash on us to give her an American size tip. Paloma you deserve all the money and more. Thank you. Highlights: the mocktail menu is delicious- dove 42? Phenomenal Duck salad: so flavorful and unique The mashed potatoes might’ve been my favorite tbh. Perfect texture. Also the au poivre sauce they had for the steak might’ve been one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve only experienced au poivre with ground pepper in it, having the full peppercorn in the sauce made the flavor go crazy. So all in all a 10/10 as per usual. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in London xx This was the only picture that was taken cuz we were so busy off our phones and enjoying the meal.”

“An amazing dining experience! Every dish was beautifully presented, fresh, and absolutely delicious. You can really tell that a lot of care and attention goes into every detail. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. From the appetizers to the main courses, everything exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an outstanding meal. One tip: make a reservation in advance, especially if you’re planning to visit on a Sunday. The place was completely full, but it’s easy to see why!”

“Love it here! Went in for birthday breakfast and the staff were very attentive. Food lovely and nice vibe and decor. They even bought out a little cake with a candle! Will definitely visit again. Had eggs Benedict which was really nice and presented well, and tea, there was enough for 4 cups out of the pot, this was £15 for breakfast and tea which I thought was very reasonable.”
