Quick info
About Papa's Chicken East London
Papa's Chicken East London is a halal fried chicken takeaway at 554 Barking Rd in East Ham, London. The shop trades under the Papa's name after previously operating as Sam's Chicken, so the halal kitchen on Barking Road carries on under new branding. The menu centres on wings with chips, and it also lists chicken fillet burgers and chicken strips for anyone after something other than wings. The kitchen keeps late-night hours, so it can serve people ordering well after the evening meal.

Customer Review Summary
Wings dominate the complaints at this fried chicken takeaway: reviewers describe them as tiny, one comparing a wing to the size of a finger, and as cold, overcooked, lacking flavour, or tasting like they had sat in the holding area. Long-time customers who knew the place under its previous name say quality and service have slipped, with a dry fillet burger and cardboard-like chips also mentioned. Staff attitude recurs, including refusals to fix a burnt burger, to give sauce on top, or to share a manager's contact details. One reviewer reports staff handling food without gloves and oil that seemed used too long, and another describes a delivery missing fries and other items with only a small refund. A minority praise tender, hot, freshly made chicken strips served at cheap prices over close to eight years, and one diner found the service friendly. Late-night buyers, though, describe pre-packaged cold chips handed over around closing time.

“am disappointed with my experience at Papa’s Chicken. During my visit, I noticed that some staff members were not wearing hand gloves while handling food. The overall cleanliness and hygiene standards did not seem to be properly maintained. I also felt that the cooking oil may have been used for too long, which affected the quality and taste of the food. The food did not appear fresh, and I have concerns about food safety and hygiene practices. In addition, the employees were very slow in preparing and serving the food, which resulted in a long waiting time. I hope management reviews these issues and takes steps to improve food hygiene, service quality, and overall customer experience.”

“I got 5 wings and chips from Papa's Chicken on Barking Road. It was 10:30 PM. There was a boy and a girl there. When I asked them for sauce on top, they didn't give it to me, saying their boss forbade it. And when I asked for a forg, they treated me badly, saying there were so many forg in front of me that I couldn't see them. How can a customer be treated like this, yet Papa's in Upton Park treats them very well. And I saw that they gave me pre-packaged coold chips for another person.how is it possible ,i am really Disappointe .”

“Service was ok, food came reasonably quickly and the place was clean. The food however was very disappointing. I use to come here regularly when it was Sam's but since it turned to Papa's I have not had the chance to visit as much. I ordered 6 pieces of chicken, 3 fillet burgers and 20 wings and chips. Chicken fillet fillet burger was dry, wings lacked flavour and the chips were like cardboard. What a shame, this place use to be amazing, unfortunately the drop off has been too big for me to return. Sadly will not be going back again anytime soon.”

“Very disappointing experience. I specifically asked the staff to make sure they included good-sized chicken wings and not the tiny ones. Unfortunately, they completely ignored my request and gave me the same poor-quality wings again. As shown in the photo, one wing is a normal size while the other is extremely small, almost the size of a finger. It is unacceptable to charge customers full price while serving wings of such inconsistent size and quality. On top of that, the staff were rude and unhelpful when I raised my concerns. Instead of listening to customer feedback and trying to resolve the issue, they showed little interest in addressing the problem. This is not the first time this has happened, which makes the experience even more frustrating. I hope management takes customer complaints seriously and improves both the food quality and customer service.”
