About Barrafina Borough Yards
Barrafina Borough Yards is a Spanish restaurant in London on Dirty Ln, built into reimagined Victorian brick railway arches. It is the first Barrafina south of the river. Seating includes the marble counter and high tables with a view over the open kitchen. The menu includes croquetas in ham and cuttlefish versions, chargrilled secreto Iberico cooked over charcoal, and Arroz Negro made with squid ink. A partially enclosed snug with a large window gives larger groups a space to dine together. The restaurant is open daily. Next door, its sister venue Bar Daskal, a Spanish wine and cocktail bar, serves drinks before or after dinner.

Customer Review Summary
Croquetas come up most, from ham to cuttlefish, and are described as crisp outside and creamy within. Close behind is the chargrilled secreto or abanico Ibérico, called incredibly tender and juicy, followed by the yellowtail crudo, the grilled squid, and the arroz negro and arroz de mariscos. Several finish with the tarta de queso or crema catalana, and one suggests a drink at the sister bar afterward. Servers are repeatedly called warm and attentive, and one diner enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the chefs. The criticism is sharper but less common. One reviewer found every dish over salty, struggled with a menu entirely in Spanish with no English explanations, and said the extra lemon slices requested with water never arrived, describing service as almost absent. Another was not a fan of the high tables and notes that staff ask for the table back when busy. One regular says a server treated them to a digestive after the meal.

“An absolute gem in Borough Yards. From the moment we sat down, the service was warm, attentive and genuinely caring — the kind that makes you feel truly looked after. Many thanks to Clemence, Deva and Miguel for their genuine hospitality and service. The food was outstanding. We had the cuttlefish croquetas — perfectly crisp outside, creamy and full of flavour inside; the yellowtail crudo — so fresh, delicate and beautifully balanced; and the chargrilled secreto Iberico — incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. Also the Arroz de Mariscos was full of flavour, with a smooth texture and incredibly delicious. Every dish was a delight. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen at its finest. Delicious food, wonderful service — we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!”

“Lovely dinner at Barrafina Borough Yards! We loved the cuttlefish croquetas, yellowtail crudo and chargrilled secreto Iberico — all exceptional — paired with a glass of cava, and the tarta de queso to finish was absolute perfection. Great food, wonderful and attentive staff delivering the best service, many thanks to Clemence, Miguel and Deva. Can't wait to return!”

“Had the croquetas, prawn & pepper tortilla, langoustine and crema catalana - all were amazing and perfectly cooked! Definitely bring a mate or two so you can sample as much of the wonderful menu as possible!”

“Barrafina never disappoints, great selection of authentic dishes, good for small bites or a larger meal. Recommend any tortilla, pardon peppers, pan con tomate, and always check the specials for unique croquettes and fresh seafood. Finish with the basque cheesecake then a drink at their sister Bar Daskal to end the night right. Great service from the whole team, especially Diana and Danny!”

“All round fresh seafood, well-balanced dishes, and cooked well. The grilled squid was the surprising standout for us. Service staff were attentive and helpful. But best to reserve and they will ask for the table back when they’re busy. Not a fan of the high tables but it is what it is.”

Walking distance from the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe, the restaurant is set within a series of reimagined Victorian brick railway arches. In addition to the classic marble counter, Barrafina Borough Yards also has high top tables with a view over the open kitchen. A partially enclosed snug filled with natural light from a generous window, provides a space for larger groups to dine. Just next door to Barrafina Borough Yards is sister venue, Spanish wine and cocktail bar, Bar Daskal, which can be used for pre and post dinner drinks.”
