Customer Review Summary
Friendly, helpful service is what reviewers raise most, and several single out the manager for steering a couple toward a dish that suited a picky partner and for making a dinner date feel special. Food comes close behind, described as delicious and fresh, with praise for the tuna sashimi, the New York Subway kaburi, the kappa maki and green uramaki, and a chocolate ganache mochi. One diner rated the stir fried rice with chicken a 10/10, and another liked the chicken katsu curry for its tasty sauce and crunch. The criticism is that the food can be uneven. One reviewer found the sushi mostly rice with little flavor and no truffle taste, and said the prawn katsu sando needed more protein. Pace gets mixed notes: one diner mentions slowdowns from courier orders, another calls the service a bit cold, and others describe it as quick. One reviewer mentions a condition that diners don't pay for food they dislike, but they paid anyway because it was yummy.

“We loved our quiet dinner at this place. The tuna sashimi was excellent as was my New York Subway kaburi. My son loved his kappa maki & green uramaki. We both enjoyed the cold textured chocolate ganache mochi (we’d have loved to have tried the mango, but they were fresh out). The choice selection was vast, so we might need to come back ajother time. The green tea comes in a tiny pot but with refills. The waiter was friendly even if the service was a bit slow due to external courier orders - still, dinner in under an hour, that’s expedient by London standards. And they do doggybags if your eyes are hungrier than your stomach. :) Recommended if you want a lovely bite of sushi & sashimi in the middle of the Portobello mkt.”
