  “I’ve been a loyal customer to korie since 2024. I’ve visited the salon on 3 different occasions now where korie was straightening/curling my hair and has burnt my scalp. I’ve addressed him about it all 3 times and he’s apologised but never offered me any compensation or refund for the service despite it being very severe burns. I’ve attached the photos. In February I visited the salon for a sew in refresh. When korie was curling the hair , he seared my scalp. I immediately gasped and he apologised and we continued. When leaving the salon the cold breeze on my scalp made it feel badly tender and sensitive but I didn’t think anything of it as I had just got my hair washed and straightened so assumed it was the sudden change in temperature. The entire way home my scalp felt very sensitive and sore. Upon removing the bundles out of my hair weeks later I saw a pink patch of my hair missing from my leave out. The hair will not grow back , my scalp and hair follicle has been damaged. I visited the salon again to show Korie and he told me it would grow back. Again , offered no recompense or anything for the fact he’s damaged my skin. It’s now coming up to may and the burn is obvious and the hair has not returned. It won’t return , it’s permanently damaged. It’s unfortunate but I will have to report this to trading standards , I don’t want to tear anyone down and especially not a black owned business - but it’s unacceptable. It’s left me feeling very insecure and upset as I take very good care of my hair and it’s right at the front of my head where everyone can see the damage. Luckily the burns on my sideburns scabbed up and healed well. Korie if you’re reading this , you know who this is , you need to take care when you’re styling natural hair. You’ve caused my scalp irreparable damage , offered no support and after long consideration I won’t be returning to the salon. It’s sad because I love your work and we really get along , but my scalp and hair health is more important than protecting you. My hair covering it really doesn’t show how big the patch in my scalp is. It’s so obvious. He burnt layers of my skin.”

  “Amazing experience from start to finish. Korie was very attentive and is a perfectionist you can tell he has a passion for hair and has immaculate attention to detail. The other members of staff were also lovely and very welcoming, I was offered tea and well taken care of. I can say I have definitely found my new hair salon and I will be back again for sure in the near future.”
