Quick info
About The Espresso Room
On Great Ormond St, The Espresso Room is a small coffee shop serving fresh brews, roasted beans and snacks to order at the counter. Banana bread and pastries sit alongside the coffee menu, which runs from white hot chocolate to iced caramel lattes and a mocha made with white chocolate and coconut soya. Simple benches line the street outside, giving those who want it a spot for outdoor dining. The entrance is step-free, making it workable for visitors with mobility needs, and dogs are welcome inside. It's a walk-in setup, with no reservations, and the shop keeps daytime hours Monday to Friday, closed on weekends. It sits near Great Ormond Street Hospital, within easy reach on foot.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the coffee itself, calling it consistently good from batch to batch. One notes a decaf that does not taste like decaf, and another praises the aroma, texture, aftertaste and roast. Close behind are specific drinks: white chocolate mochas and white hot chocolates, one made with real chocolate, plus iced caramel lattes and a cappuccino enjoyed at the outside seating. Pastries and cake are described as incredibly fresh, though one reviewer found the banana bread only alright. The barista is repeatedly called friendly and chatty, and a few people working near or visiting the hospital on Great Ormond Street say they came in daily. The one stated drawback is a small waiting area, which that reviewer felt could hardly be helped. Reviewers also describe the shop as cozy and quaint. One reviewer who was in a wheelchair recalls the barista coming outside to serve them, and another says he already knows their usual order when they walk in.

“Amazing coffee at a small, cozy shop at a lovely area. As the cafe is quite small, you can sit outside if the weather's nice, which is what we did. The cappuccino was really good - will visit again”

“Super Mocha made with REAL chocolate! I had white chocolate with coconut soya it was really delicious and one of the best mochas I've ever had, hence writing this review. I will be back for more.”

“I have come here everyday since discovering it! Drinks are great, staff are very friendly & chatty. Very quaint and convenient for anyone who is visiting/working at GOSH. Small waiting area but that's the only negative and can hardly be helped. Would definitely recommend!”

“Stopped by here on a vacation to London by pure chance and didn’t regret it. Definitely a great spot for both locals and travelers. The cozy atmosphere really compliments the rich, vibrant coffee that embraced my body and soul like a nice warm hug from a close friend. Shoutout to Felix who made my drink and was very helpful in his suggestions.”

“I work around here and This is THE TOP COFFEE PLACE I usually go to. The barista has an MBTI trait starting with an “I” (don’t quote me for that), yet friendly and approachable without trying too hard. I just love the vibe. The coffee quality is just top notch. I don’t know how the barista somehow manage to make a decaf doesn’t taste like a decaf. You will notice the subtle difference between batches of coffee bean, but IT IS ALWAYS CONSISTENTLY GOOD. I’m super grateful for the coffee shop and the barista near my workplace. They provide an essential boost to my day and week.”
