About The Cocktail Club - Cocktail Bar on Shaftesbury Avenue

The Cocktail Club is a cocktail bar in London at 224a Shaftesbury Ave, and its Musicals Bottomless Brunch features a live performer, with nachos and a hot dog served with English mustard. Staff also host cocktail classes that end in a race to make and drink a daiquiri. The drinks list runs from the Bramble and the Strawberry Spritz to the Jam Jar Daiquiri, and the bartender can make off-menu cocktails on request. Pitchers are available for sharing. The room has leather banquettes, tattoo art and lamps above the bar, and a retro hip hop playlist plays at a level that still allows conversation. A happy hour with cocktails rounds out the schedule.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the cocktails, praising them as big, strong and tasty, with an off-menu drink from one bartender and the daiquiri race at a cocktail class as specific highlights. Close behind is the staff, described as welcoming, funny, attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks, with one bartender singing along to every song and asking about music tastes. Happy hour prices come up repeatedly as really good, and the music, a retro hip hop playlist among them, is not too loud for conversation. Several also mention bottomless brunch, including a hen party. The complaints are small but specific. One brunch guest says the food amounts to a few nachos and a hot dog, found the room very dark in areas, wanted less ABBA from the performer, and heard the electrics in the Gents need attention. Another says the pitchers they ordered didn't taste great, the hot dog mustard has a kick, and napkins on the tables would help. One reviewer jokes that the lamps above the bar take a battering.

“We loved our visit to The Cocktail Club for the ‘Musicals Bottomless Brunch’ and had a great time. The ‘brunch’ is a few nachos and a hot dog so we made sure we ate beforehand otherwise we would have all been plastered! The performer was great and very engaging, although I would suggest with so many amazing show tunes around a bit less ABBA and more variety would be an improvement. It was also very dark in areas and apparently the electrics in the Gents could do with some attention. It really was a fabulous experience that I would definitely recommend to others, all of the staff were brilliant and attentive, there are just a few things to be mindful of to bring it up to 5 stars.”

“Sam is the most best bartender I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and had the opportunity to get an off menu cocktail that was AMAZING. Drinking only his recommendations on the visit, I have never been more pleased with a service! Also since the venue was quite he also asked if me and my friend had a preferred music taste that was so considerate and attentive to Costomer detail. The boy deserves a pay rise that’s for sure I will be returning definitely just for his service alone!!!”

“The staff were really attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks we requested. Music and ambience was great, not too loud so a conversation was easily had. The decor dark and moody which was really nice! Lots of choices on the menu. Great experience”
