About OGAM BAR

OGAM BAR is a Korean cocktail bar in London, at 10 Chapel Market, serving Korean cocktails and spirits with a small menu of Korean dishes and snacks alongside. The makgeolli is made in-house, including a sweet potato version, and a makgeolli challenge is part of the offer. Original cocktails and Korean takes on classics sit on the list, among them the Jeju Mule, and mocktails and ades cover drinkers who want something without alcohol. On the food side, Korean fried chicken comes with radish pickles and sauce. The bar is open Wednesday to Sunday, evenings only, and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations come with a booking policy on timings. The bar area takes parties of up to four, and groups of five to twenty book a room instead.

Customer Review Summary

Korean-inspired cocktails draw the most praise, with the Jeju Mule singled out as refreshing and the Danji also named. Reviewers call the drinks well balanced and generously sized, though one first found them pricey. Close behind is the in-house makgeolli, including a sweet potato version, along with somaek. Food is described as a good side, from crispy Korean fried chicken and spicy kimchi pancake to kimchi and spicy pork tacos, a salty and sweet hotdog, and tteok-ko-chi. Most describe friendly, welcoming staff and a cosy, atmospheric room. Service is the recurring complaint, raised in two reviews. One diner found a waitress pushy, asking about food and another round before drinks were finished, never bringing napkins, and pressing for payment once they declined. Another found the male bartender sarcastic, saying he told them to eat elsewhere if they disliked the menu, and called the food average and too small for the price. Others still recall a burning pine cone set on top of a cocktail.

“The owner is nice but I find the waitress a bit pushy. When we first entered, the waitress was already a bit pushy towards us to order. Then she hastily asked if we want to order food on top of it. When the drinks were served, no napkins were provided and we had to walk and go ask for them. Before we even finished our drinks, we were already being asked if we wanted another one. She pressured us to pay once we said no. And the bar is not even busy. All these encounters just make the service of this bar feel very sloppy. Looking at other people’s reviews, it seems like the level of service is a reoccurring issue of theirs. This is not Korea, the “pali-pali” culture does not work when you are charging 12-18£ a drink.”

“What a bar! We ordered kimchi & spicy pork tacos and Korean friend chicken, and they were packed with flavours! Friend chicken was well seasoned and juicy. It also came with radish pickles and sauce, which paired perfectly. The tacos had the perfect balance between acidity and spiciness. The contrast between crunchy kimchi and succulent pork gave such an entertaining texture, which we really enjoyed. We ordered Danji and Jeju mule as our drinks. The presentation of these drinks was so unique (have you ever seen a burning pine cone on top of your cocktail?!). Each drink had its own fun twist whilst maintaining the familiar taste. True definition of modern Korean bar experience.”

“Honestly pretty surprised how rude the male bartender was. Quite sarcastic when asking about the menu, how things were served, portion sizes, etc (since not typical for London). Basically told "it is what the menu says " and "if you don't like it you can leave and eat elsewhere". The other waitress staff were friendly and normal, maybe he's having a bad day idk, but no need for it. Interior decor was very cool, good design, but drinks very average for the price, and food very average and far too small for the price. Overall poor value, and dire service, wouldn't return.”
