Quick info
About China Kitchen
Orders are placed and collected at the counter at China Kitchen, a Chinese takeaway on Greenford Ave in London, with no booking and no table service. Portions come in two sizes, and the smaller one arrives by default unless you ask for the larger, which is worth knowing before you order. Rice and noodle dishes carry much of the menu, with Singapore fried rice, chicken chow mein and salt and chilli prawns among the regular orders, and plain fried rice often paired with a chicken curry. Sweet and sour chicken balls and satay sauce also feature. Payment is cash only, so bring notes rather than a card, and receipts are not handed over as a matter of course. The counter is staffed by one person taking and passing out orders. It trades Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Regulars point to the staple fried rice and noodle dishes as the draw, with one longtime customer naming Singapore Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Mein as a consistently flavourful go-to order and calling it good, honest Chinese. Close behind are the salt and chili prawns with satay sauce, singled out by one reviewer as the best they have had, and the sweet and sour chicken balls, praised alongside food described as fresh, hot and full of flavour. Several also mention good portions and friendly counter service, and one says they still travel back from another area for it. The complaints are substantial, though. Multiple reviewers describe rude service, including one who was charged for four dishes, received three, and says the counter response was a raised hand and a refusal to show the receipt. Others report the food declining, one saying it now tastes microwaved rather than made fresh, and another that only the small portion is offered without asking. One later edit reports things back on track again.

“Very rude people!! Ordered food for my family and I and was charged for 4 dishes but only received 3. Got home and noticed what had happened so I went back to explain to them which is when the gentleman at the counter started held his hand up near my face whilst shaking his head no. I was nothing but respectful whilst communicating and remained calm and collected despite what had happened and I don’t appreciate the way in which I was treated. They only accept cash and did not offer me a receipt upon ordering and when I asked them if I could check the receipt they declined. Not going back anymore.”
