About Barrio - Shoreditch

On Shoreditch High St in London, Barrio - Shoreditch is a bar whose bottomless prosecco brunch comes with musical bingo and drag queen entertainment. The prosecco is unlimited and left as a bottle at the table. A host runs the bingo with prizes, and the brunch soundtrack is reggaeton and R&B. Food includes tacos and nachos, with vegetarian options, and quesadillas are also on the brunch menu. Guests can add a cocktail jug or a sangria jug on top of the prosecco, and beer is also available. Margaritas are made at the bar, and a happy hour runs alongside. A small dance floor and stage area sits within the bar, where guests dance, and DJs play for the late-night club. Screens and a projector show football.

Customer Review Summary

Bottomless brunch with live entertainment is what most reviewers raise, with a bottle of prosecco left at the table rather than topped up glass by glass, plus a jug of cocktail or sangria. Tacos, nachos and quesadillas come out, including for vegetarians, while the host runs musical bingo with prizes and gets people dancing on the stage to R&B and reggaeton. Close behind, the music and small dance floor get credit for a lively night, and several reviewers describe a welcoming server or bartender, with one calling the margarita balanced and strong. The complaints centre on consistency. One diner found the tacos wheat-based and cold with processed cheese, and the dirty fries soggy and light on meat. Another received no greeting or seating guidance and had to ask for help. A brunch guest notes the menu no longer offers a hugo spritz. A football booking met a blurry projector with a circle over the screen, buffering and slow bar service, and a lemonade arrived with alcohol in it. Staff initially resisted a refund before making the correct drink.

“Von was amazing as a bartender. I felt incredibly taken care of, it’s like it saw my needs before I even felt them. He was so attentive and really made my night, and he did an incredible job!”

“Service was basically nonexistent. No one greeted us or told us where to sit. We had to go and ask for help ourselves a few times. The drinks were good and the tacos were okay. They did end up bringing our food and drinks quite quickly so service wasn’t awful but definitely could have been better. It’s a shame the Soho one changed as the service there was great.”

“Booked on First Table as a last minute booking on a Sunday night. I’m aware it’s not a renowned eatery but I didn’t think you could go that wrong with taco’s…I was wrong. 1) The taco’s are wheat taco’s (not disclosed anywhere) - not made from masa, just smaller versions of a Tesco wrap. 2) They came cold and with a slice of some American, processed cheese - what?? 3) The dirty fries were also cold and soggy and not so dirty - think 2tbsp of meat and no flavour 4) The cutlery and plates (metal trays) were dirty plus the Cholua looked like it had been sitting outside for 3 months 5) Saving the best until last, we both had Diarrhoea in the morning. Our server was nice and there are screens to watch the football but I won’t be returning. Despite having paid half the usual price, it still felt poor value for money, considering how quickly the tacos left our bodies. Come here if you want a colon cleanse.”
