Quick info
About Shire Coffee at HWYL
Shire Coffee at HWYL sits on Market Street in Llanelli town centre, set inside the HWYL market hall as a coffee shop and brunch spot. The counter serves the daytime trade from morning through to early evening, with a spacious layout that leaves plenty of room to move prams and wheelchairs through. Dogs are welcome inside, making it a straightforward stop for anyone walking with their pet through the town centre. The space takes walk-ins throughout the day. The brunch menu and coffee counter share the same ordering point, and the room opens directly onto the market hall rather than the street, which keeps it just off the main foot traffic.

Customer Review Summary
Across reviews, the coffee draws the most praise, with several calling it the best in town and praising cappuccinos alongside great food like avocado toast and Welsh cockles and laverbread. One lone diner, however, reports a deeply disappointing lunch, citing sour baked beans, overcooked eggs on the avocado toast, and prices that felt too high for careless cooking. Staff and atmosphere get warm mention.

- Sian Reilly
“Such a popular place. I have been here a few times recently. Great service and good to see a cafe in Llanelli town centre busy on a Monday morning. The coffee is great!”
- Allan Glenn
“Stopped here for lunch and unfortunately it was really disappointing. The baked beans had a strange sour taste and something just didn’t seem right with them. The eggs on the avocado toast were really overcooked, with completely firm yolks. The drinks weren’t great either. For the prices they charge, I was expecting much better. The food should at least be properly cooked and nicely presented, but everything just felt a bit careless. Definitely not worth the price. Overall, really disappointing.”
- Craig Morris
“Every time I come here I say "that was the best (insert meal here) I've ever had" and I keep meaning to leave a review. This time it was the avocado toast, which was perfectly seasoned with chilli and lemon, that I had with an excellent cappuccino.”
